Hopefully we play at least two games to allow this team to gel. I don't care about winning the tournament, and I'm not really concerned about seeding. The only thing that matters, is getting this team to play up to its ability in the coming weeks. If Billy can do that, we're golden.

Agreed. Going 6-4 down the stretch within a very weak SEC conference is killing our rep nationally right now. But we could wipe all that away in a week by cruising through the tournament and get back in the 2-seed discussion, especially if we can face the other tournament-caliber teams - Missouri, Tenn, and/or UK - again.

Yes this team needs to fight for respect in the SEC tournament by crushing all teams.

I hate to say it, but I don't think this team can either win the SEC tourney or go very deep at the NCAA's. Not a single quality road win all year and suspect ball handling in crunch time.

True, but if it were the Gators vs the field, smart money is on the field.

So Beal was a clutch closer last year? I didn't know this. Thanks for the info.

No offense, but posts like this are unnecessary. I think its fair to question the team based on the past games, but making a statement that we will lose down the road is not good karma/smart. You don't even know who we might play. I'm not saying you have to be a homer and think we will win it all.

On Friday, we WILL play the winner of Thursday's UGA/LSU game. Both those teams are playing better than when we crushed them.
If we win that game, then the winner of the Bama/(probably)Tennesee will play us on Saturday. On Thursday, UT faces the winner of the USCe/MSU game.
I am not looking forward to playing UT again, if that is what happens. That said, if we do play them, it will be their third game in as many days.

Beal could create his own shot, which is more than any current Gator player can say. Our offense depends heavily on ball movement and heavily on moving away from the ball to create assists and open shots.

Most of you badly need to look at the thread titled Snivel Quotient.
Being the #1 seed, and with almost all of the teams that match up best with the Gators being in the other bracket, in addition to the fact that the Gators, along with Ole Miss, Ky and Bama only have to play 3 games to win it, plus the fact that the Gators will be healthier and therefore deeper than at any other time this entire year while playing in a 5/4/3 game in 3 day tournament that rewards team depth, means that the Gators have far and away the best chance of winning the SEC tournament.
A lot of this relates to being the #1 seed in the tournament, but some of it relates to the sort of dumb luck that has not been very strong for this year's Gator team. If the luck has turned around, that is a very, very, very good thing, because two types of teams win any given game: those who are better, and those who are luckier.
