Bama was a close tough game, we just pulled away at the end. The UK game should not have even been close, how do you go the last 71/2 minutes without even scoring a single point? Winning close games is not this teams problem, staying focused and putting teams away when you have a good lead is.

Maybe a starter or 2 should be benched on Friday.

Although they might prove to be a tougher match-up than BAMA, I think it would be good for the team to play them again. A win would help us out mentally.

Another interesting Friday game will be UK vs. Arkansas at 7:30. Arkansas beat UK by 13 a week ago, and it's not clear that UK makes the tournament if it loses.

I think a first game loss would push uk out.
Friday should be great...
Florida plays, likely followed by:
ut -v- bama
arky -v- uk
ole miss -v- mizzou

There is no excuse for Florida not to make sunday's championship, given their bracket.
Unless they really can't win away from home in competetive games.

Is it away from home, or true road games?

Game Two: Texas A&M over AU
Game Three: Georgia over LSU
Game Four: Tennessee over USC
Game Five: Arkansas over Vandy
Game Six: Missouri over TAM
Game Seven: Florida over Georgia (73-60)
Game Eight: Alabama over Tennessee
Game Nine: Kentucky over Arkansas
Game Ten: Missouri over Ole Miss
Game Eleven: Florida over Alabama (69-53)
Game Twelve: Missouri over UK
SEC Championship: Florida over Missouri (71-68)
I think the only hurdle for UF comes on Sunday. Alabama played us well the first time, but I still like our matchup with them. Georgia is sneaky this year, but we match up even better against them. Missouri is the second best team in the league IMO, and matches up pretty well with UK. That game will be a dog fight. Then it will just be a question of whether or not Missouri has any fight left in them by the time they get to us.

Ken Pomeroy has recently posted his log5 predictions for the SEC tournament. I sent him an email that he needs to rerun his numbers. He gave Vandy a partial homecourt advantage because the tournament is in Nashville. I told him to rerun his analysis to give UK an even larger homecourt advantage due to the fact that their fans always totally dominate the SEC tournament.

I see where you are coming from; however, if UK hits some free throws it would not have been close at eight minutes to go.
I personally think that Florida is a lot better team this year than Kentucky, but the fact is that Kentucky finished two games back of Florida without Noel for the last 7. Sunday the team that lacked focus was Kentucky. This UK team has an attention span the equal of a two year old. There is a two game spread between Florida and several other teams. The differential is not too much and at a neutral site the SEC Tourney should be very, very interesting.

I like that this is the All-Kenpom SEC team:
Quote:
|
All-kenpom: Patric Young, Florida (kPOY); Erik Murphy, Florida; Kenny Boynton, Florida; Mike Rosario, Florida; Scottie Wilbekin, Florida.
|
He discusses it further here and points out sometime about Missouri everyone seems to be ignoring:
http://kenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/entry/sec_log5
BTW, Young as kPOY is an interesting result too.

The tournament really gets going on Friday with the quarterfinals. The most interesting game will be the 10pm matchup between #3 Ole Miss and #6 Missouri, with the winner playing the winner of #2 Kentucky and either Vandy or Arkansas.
The other interesting matchup is at 3:30 between #4 Alabama vs. (probably) #5 Tennessee - two teams desperate for a win to get off the bubble. The winner of that game plays the winner of #1 Florida vs. #8 Georgia or #9 LSU.
So, the semifinals shape up to be (probably) Florida against either Alabama and Tennessee at 1pm, followed by Kentucky against either Ole Miss or Missouri.
Our Friday game will be on ESPNU, and all the Saturday and Sunday games will be on ABC.

Thanks for the info and analysis Goth.....nicely done!
Some good games coming up!

I agree. If there is a year for us to win, its this year.
