Casey Needs The Ball
What's that definition of insanity....doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?
Love Boynton, but he isn't clutch, Scotty can't handle the pressure, and Rosario can't be counted on...
Casey is the only player on this team that can truly create his own shot, and he has the highest FG % on the team, partly due to the fact that he rarely ever takes a bad shot.
He has proven to be able to create shots when others aren't able to, and doesn't seeming shy away from it.
Im having a hard time getting over this loss to an underwhelming UK team, and everything has been said already....this is only solution I can figure to our late game woes...

There are other factors involved with Casey getting minutes (health and defensive understanding), but I agree that we need to get him more involved in the offense. He is arguably our most dynamic offensive player.

Agree. He had 9 rebounds today, too. For that stat alone he should get more PT

If you wanted to say he was the most dynamic defender on the team, I wouldn't argue. He adds to our ability to press, he's a long body, blocks shots, can rebound, and the more I think about what he can do, the more perplexed I am that he's not a starter on this team.
Prather gives the Gators a lot of versatility. I'm not sure anybody on this team is playing at his level. Young? He plays great basketball in spurts. Boynton? Absolutely not. Wilbekin? He hasn't done much but defend well over the second half of the season. You could almost say his game has regressed offensively. Rosario is struggling. Murphy can create down low, but is at his best when he's hot from outside. He's hot and cold.
Prather is different. The guy is a baller. He can drive, he comes out of nowhere to make big things happen, provides a spark whenever he's in the game, and he's a pain in the ass as a defender. The "next big thing" is coming off the bench, and I don't get it.

Casey is our most versatile offensive player. He can actually do things that our other guys can't like slashing, beating guys off the dribble, and some nice post moves.
With that said, I don't think he's consistent enough with the other things like ballhandling, passing, ball screens, etc. to unseat the other guys.

Huh? Rosario and Boynton have been the two most inconsistent players on the team. Young completely disappears for 10-15 minutes a clip. Wilbekin has had no offensive game at all over the second half of the season. Murphy has been the most consistent offensive threat of the starters, but he isn't even close to the athlete Prather is.
Prather has been the most complete, consistent player on this team since returning to the rotation. He doesn't have a problem turning the ball over-certainly no more of a problem than some of our starters-anymore, and I think he's earned the right to start.

Two weeks ago I would have agreed with you. However, Mike Rosario is playing at a level that makes this arguement untrue.

Interesting argument.
And yes, both Boynton & Rosario throughout their careers at UF have been relatively inconsistent - throughout games, not merely at the end.
So, let's look at this rationally:
1 - The Gators have lost 5 close games away from home while not giving Prather the end-of-game offensive tasks.
2 - What could happen that is worse than that if Prather is given the end-of-game offensive task, a loss?
Actually, this is not a bad argument.

Prather gets "effort points" the same way WY does. I'm not sure that he'd be much of a scorer in extended minutes. That said, his other attributes do make him a viable option for starting minutes.

I like Casey, and agree with a lot that has been said on this thread. And I do think he has, should and will continue to get more pt.
That said, I do not want him taking the last shot in such a scenario.
I would like it to be Murphy. Finally, yesterday we saw Murphy able to use his mid range game a bit. Hopefully we saw more and more of his offensive skills as the team returns to full strength.
Murphy, more than anyone on this team, is the guy I want shooting the ball if the game is on the line.

Prather has no nerves. There is no fear by him when he drives. The only hesitation he has right now is on long jump shots. Other than that he creates his own shot or keeps the ball moving. He is a phenomenal rebounder. He is a terrific defender.
This will be considered a stretch and maybe it is but if we ran some of the offense through Prather, he'd be our best player on the floor. And it might not be that close.

Casey needs to start over Rosario and Frazier should be in for Boyton if the game's on the line.

im not saying Casey should take the last shot per say, but when the usuals go into freeze mode, that he can be the ice breaker, as he has the athletic ability the rest of them don't have to get to the rim...
