DFS is supposed to be very very good. He was a highly ranked HS player who was completely misused at VA Tech. Reports are that he is doing really well in practice. I'm sure it will take him some time get back up to speed after having a year off from basketball, but he is supposed to be a potential lottery pick. So don't be surprised at all if he starts over Prather.

With all the great players in Hs or Jc we cannot find a driving ,shooting, passing one, I dont believe that,i will say one thing ,it may upset a lot of folks, but I think Billy does not wants a star at UF, but a slowed down basketball team, this maybe why we had a lot of transfers before,Junior Colleges in Fla have a lot of explosive players, can Frazier dribble and pass the ball, we know he can shoot.

NorthCaptivaGator, love your optimism, legit top 10, not the way the AP writers see it or the Coaches poll, watch when they come out. We will be around 15th.

As for Braxton O. would you be upset if he were the one to come in with an airball for a three, or throw a lazy pass or be a non existent scoring threat with the game on the line on the road. We need to try something different. We don't have inside depth so we can't go there, but at the guard positions we have depth and we don't use it. We should try something different, because Groundhog day is getting old and the whole country knows the picture of us when we collapse on the road late in games. To keep doing what doesn't work, well call it anything you want.

Guys, the same phenomena has occurred for the Gators at the end of the SEC season, no matter who was playing PG.

The Gators always suffer multiple losses in the last 6-8 SEC games and everyone complains about the PGs not being a true PG every year. This was even true with Green on the 2005-7 teams. The 2007 team lost 3 SEC games, all down the stretch, and the 2006 team lost 6 SEC games, losing 3 down the stretch. This year's team did the same thing, as did last years, the year before's and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before.

I was going to do a bit about playing PG for Billy D, despite the fact that theoretically both SG & PG have similar responsibilities, but in reality, it boils down to greater responsibility at the point. The fact that Wilbekin also faces the toughest defensive assignment exacerbates the pressure on him.

Every year, every Gator PG is very worn down by the end of the Arduous conference schedule, and really needs some time off. Usually this occurs before the SEC tournament, and almost always, before the NCAA tournament. This is why we tend to see better tournament performance from the Gators than SEC performance.

Part of it has to do with the fact that the Gators always, for some odd reason, face the toughest end of SEC schedules. This year, Vandy was down and played in Gainesville, but last year's team also lost 3 end-of-year games, despite the size of Walker's spincter.

We see exactly the same thread every single year.

I know that this thread has had alot of PG talk, but after yesterday's game, I have serious questions about Young, and whether he can match up with certain big men in the tourney. I didn't hold a terribly high opinion of WCS prior to yesterday's game, but UF, and particularly Young, made him look like a top-5 NBA draft pick. In that final 7 minute drought, PY missed some terribly easy lay-ups, which you HAVE to make in the tourney.

Right North. You never saw Erving Walker drive into the lane in a tight game and throw up a stupid looking runner like Scottie did against Kentucky. Nor did you ever see him make careless passes to teamates when he drove the lane under pressure...... Especially against Kentucky. I mean Erving OWNED them during his career.........

The memory can be a very selective thing, can't it?????

I agree that Scottie had a terrible game Saturday. He seems to be very tentative on his jump shot and hesitant to make the pass down low on the pick and roll play and unfortunately this has been going on for the last couple of weeks. But, please............ enough of the "Erving Walker would save the day comments". Especially when we are talking about Kentucky..........
