One end of game positive ...
When the game was slipping away, we tried to go inside instead of settling for long jumpers. We missed the layups, which stunk, but it seemed to me we tried for high-percentage shots -- they just didn't fall.
Even KB's last second shot was ten feet closer than he usually takes.
UF got stale and a little scared, but at least we didn't panic into long jumpers like we have in the past.

Good observation. Next step . . . learn to make ANY shot (long or short) down the stretch of a half away from home.

Also have to say WY looks like he he is rounding back into shape. He will be a force inside and on the glass in the next two tournaments

I thought the shot KB took at the end was a good look but it just didn't go in.

To be fair, it was a contested shot, with Wilbekin WIDE open at the top of the key.

Yes, for the most part I thought they played smart and composed the whole game. Clearly it's a mental thing with the tightness, leaving shots short that they're trying to guide in late in the game, and they aren't getting the whistles in the lane to get to the free throw line that help you through those tough stretches.

I would have to see it again but I thought it was more open than that. Didn't see Scottie.

Don't forget our 'no-look' passing...or lack thereof.

ESPN just showed the highlight. Scottie was all alone, calling for the ball. Hope KB can break his tendency to miss in end-of-game situations.

Neither KB or wilbekin have executed in late game situations this yr. I wouldn't mind seeing Murphy or Rosario taking that shot.

completely agree
also, the op is correct and have been wanting to see us go inside a lot more...but AT Kentucky, the refs swallow the whistle. We might as well shot 3s

We need to get someone a jump shot that the opponents least expect and so therefore will be unlikely to defend. I like Young from 8-10 feet. He has become fairly consistent from that distance.

Yeah, I personally think Rosario would be much better in late game situations than Scottie or KB, because he has shown the ability to create, but I guess we don't trust him with potential turn overs.

In his post-game PC Billy said the same thing - that it wasn't a wide open great look but it was a good look, i.e. he didn't have a hand in his face or something like that.

Yep. WIDE OPEN. It would have been a great look from the 3 point line at the top of the key to take the lead. But Boynton just seems to predetermine when he is going to take those late shots and puts them up no matter what.
I also noticed in the highlights how bad Prather got whacked by WCS on a put-back attempt with 1:45 left in the game which would have put us on the line and fouled him out (i.e. had a major impact).

I totally missed Scottie in that series. Probably too busy trying to will KB's shot in.
The foul on Prather is the one I jumped up out of my chair about I believe.

Florida played pretty well defensively down the stretch but our shooting was literally as bad as is possible.
We missed good looks. We missed when we forced shots. We missed our last 11 shots. Nothing else needs to be said about today's game.
Sooner or later, somebody has to make a shot or two...
if you want to win.

Why not Frazier?
I recall that, in the NCAA tournament final game against Michigan State, that true Frosh Matt Bonner took the last Looonnnnggg shot at the end of the first half. He missed, but that is usually true regarding 3-point shots - even the Gators only hit about 38% this year and last year, and they have been one of the best teams at that.
And yes, with two weeks and 3 games under his belt, I think we should expect Yeguete to be close to back in form.
Also, without game and defensive pressure on him for a week, I expect Wilbekin to be a much better PG in the tournaments, as has been true for every Billy D PG throughout history. They always wear down toward the end of the SEC grind, but almost always recover for tournaments.

Yeah but to be fair, if Scotty had missed that shot then some people on here would be complaining about jacking up a 3 at the end of the game instead.
