I think there is both a plus and minus way you can look at having a truly game changing player. The first, of course, is that they can take a game over or carry the team on their back. The downside to this is if they are having a bad night it can have a bigger impact on the team than would happen when you have a team like Florida. With all of our players healthy we have the ability to overcome a down night by anyone we have.

IMO, the fact that our team is so good without the marquee name is a testament to Billy's coaching and player devlopment abilities.

Game changing player is fine but team chemistry is essential. This seems to be especially true as Donovan seems to do his best work with teams that are unselfish and have chemistry.

I hate to get real simplistic, but my feelings probably apply to about two or three dozen other teams: If we get hot, we could win it.
I'm confident our D will be fine, as long as Young doesn't get into foul trouble. Even when he's not scoring or getting a lot of rebounds, when he bodies up to you, you're done. Better pass it back outside.
The obvious concern is offense. Our advantage is that we don't depend on one guy. Our disadvantage is that we don't have one guy that we can count on to get 20. Wilbekin's scoring seems to have dropped off. Boynton is obviously struggling. Murphy has up and down games ...
We can have one guy with a sub-par game. Maybe two. But if two or three starters are in single digits, we're in trouble.
But if four or five guys get hot ...
And, damn, I'd love to have another national title.

I would really like to see our post entry passes improve...a lot. We missed a lot of points inside because of the inability to make a simple pass.

Hopefully, we have four more games before the dance starts and more opportunities to improve.

I agree with you regarding the post entry pass. It seems like Young establishes the high post well with the defender fronting him, but we rarely deliver that pass. The high/low game with Young and Murphy should be more effective than it is. We just need to continue to improve with our decision making on that pick and roll. And as tommyuf points out, we must improve our entry pass into Young, and show some ability with the lob pass if Young gets fronted.

We will win it all provided we make our foul shots down the stretch.

The Vandy game was very encouraging, but hope that we can match that type of performance in a close game

Big Yes! Coach D and the team has a great chance for the title. Got the stuff mentally and physically, just can't slump in a game because they think they are better.

Go Gators!

Not to mention with a rotation of only 6-7 players, these guys , IMO, couldnt go all out defensively and get winded. Now we have a couple more back which should allow them to be more aggressive. The biggest key will be if they can get back to pre-Yeguete-loss form as soon as possible.

Getting Yeguete back to form, playing the way he was playing in January represents the last piece of the puzzle. Honestly, the reason I think we win it all is because of Donovan. I believe he is the best coach in college basketball right now. He is the Coach K of the 90's and early 2000's. His preparation for the tournament games the past 2 years have been flawless. I realize we lost in the elite 8, but I just believe Louisville and Butler were a little better and had coaches that prepared extremely well also. This year I think we have as much talent top to bottom as any team in College Basketball. Donovan will shine!

You could make an argument for Louisville, but you'll never convince me that that Butler team was better than ours. We had the game in hand and were controlling the paint easily until a bogus call sent Vernon Macklin to the bench. After that, our brains cramped and we just started gunning from the outside. Tyus was pissed.
