Does anyone have any more insight as to whether or not he will be back?

Well he better be in decent shape in case the charges do get dropped. He will have to work to get out of the dog house. Plus we have some young blood along with some transfers that will be in shape and ready to go.

Vinnie Testaverde wrecked his scooter before their NC game way back when. I thought then why would a coach allow his star qb to ride around campus on one of those things.

Everybody-probably myself included-had this "kick him off the team" mentality toward the situation. Of course, he was probably the third best receiver on his own team coming out of high school, so nobody knew he'd end up being like...the best receiver of the Spurrier era.

It's funny how things work out sometimes when you write somebody off.

Gaffney was "popped" for stealing wallets/money from the lockers of high school players at the stadium for an all star game. It was ridiculous. He probably should never have been allowed to come back to UF. His dad and some other influential alum intervened to get him back on the team without a scholarship. I don't remember anything about a scooter, but I'd be surprised if he got busted a second time he'd have stayed on the team.

From what I understand, Dunker has to prove that he purchased the scooter without knowing it was stolen. That was Cam Newton's defense with the stolen laptop. Might have worked if he hadn't thrown the computer out the window when the cops came knocking.

I hung around Yon Hall a bit in my UF years. There was quite a bit of merchandise being hustled by players and their friends at suspicious prices. Won't name names, except one. I was actually interested in one item being offered for sale and Johnny Gaffney took me aside and advised me never to buy anything from anyone selling stuff in that dorm. Athletic dorms have always been flea markets for merchandise that "fell off a truck."

He did have a scooter incident..Some kid stole his scooter his sr. year and JG beat the hell out of him. I think the kid was a minor. Something along those lines.

That being said, I'm glad JG was given a second chance. I flew all the way to Tenn to watch him rip the hearts out of 100,000 vols.

Jeff Driskel has one. He stopped briefly to be interviewed by the Orlando CBS sports guy, Ping, after a home game this past season... on his scooter.

Harvey Thomas hurt himself in a scooter accident before the 1992(?) Sugar Bowl (the one where Jerome Bettis ran all over UF and Shane Matthews wouldn't run with 40 yards of open field in front of him.)

I don't know how much a DE could have helped a team up that was depleted up the middle - injured Brad Culpepper, down to a walk-on MLB - but several of the media seemed to think that was a significant factor.

This happened while I was at UF. Supposedly JG chased him down and the kid jumped in a waiting pond to elude him. Then JG stopped stripped down to his boxers and went in after him.

It was a pretty hilarious story but most likely untrue!
