Daytona Supercross March 9th

The only Supercross race in Florida again this year. Only 6 days until the best riders hit the dirt for the 10th stop of the 17 race series.

Advance General Admission tickets - $30

Youth General Admission (ages 6-12) tickets - $10

Reserved Grandstands tickets (Campbell, Weatherly, Roberts) - $40.

All tickets provide FREE access to Sprint FANZONE and the AMA Supercross pits until 5pm.

Here’s a look at some of the numbers behind the construction of this year’s Daytona Supercross By Honda course:

219 – Number of truck loads of dirt

6,000 – Number in tons of dirt

8 – Number of trucks used to transport the dirt into the Speedway

2 – Number of days to bring all of the dirt into the track

40 – Number of jumps on the Supercross course

2 – Number of whoop sections

450 –Number of tuff blocks with Honda covers for safety

3,280 – Mileage in feet of the Supercross course

500 – Number of man-hours (approximate) to set up the Daytona Supercross By Honda course

In addition, one crawler, one front loader and two skid skeeters are used to move the dirt during construction.

The paddock for Supercross teams will again be staged in the blue garages, which are located adjacent to the Sprint FANZONE and provide easy accessibility for the fans.

On Sunday and Monday in the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross, the amateur Supercross racers wlll have an opportunity to test their skills on the same course used in the Daytona Supercross By Honda. For more information on the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross, visit www.racedaytona.com

Honda celebration set for 6 p.m. Friday

Honda racing stars will be in the tent to meet fans and sign autographs. The lineup includes Trey Canard, Justin Barcia, Chad Reed, Eli Tomac, Wil Hahn and Zach Bell. In addition, racing legends Gary Jones, Jeff Stanton, Jeremy McGrath and Kevin Windham will be attendance.

Awesome races last night. James Stewart made a last lap pass to win a heat. The lites LCQ had a photo finish for the transfer spot that had to be reviewed and changed. A couple of guys had huge cartwheel wrecks but no serious injuries. RV1 was dialed in and took his 3rd Daytona Supercross Champion trophy home.

“We ripped a great hole shot,” said Villopoto

“It was a man's race,” Dungey said.

“It was gnarly,” Barcia said.

Matthew Goerke, Lake Helen, finished 11th.

Meanwhile, two-time European champion Marvin Musquin scored his first AMA Supercross victory by capturing the 250SX main event before the big bikes took center stage.
