Having put up many nets on rims in my lifetime (and never cut down a single one ), I always wondered how - and why - the tradition developed to "cut" them down after a championship.
I mean, all you have to do is push the strings over the retainer, and hey, it comes right off.

No moronic Vandy student. No Gator SEC title.

I thought it was pretty funny that Barry Booker shared that story last night - he was on that Vandy team. Good stuff -

I'm with you in having put a lot up while never cutting one down but I bet it would be fun in a situation like last night.
If you want to give several people a piece of them then I guess cutting them down a bit a the time would be more practical. You could always take them down then cut them up but that would take the fun, and drama, out of it I think.

Was anyone else worried about Murphy with those scissors jumping around with the other guys? With our injury luck this year I was just waiting for one of our guys to be out the rest of the year with a scissor stab wound.

Thank you seniors and congrats. I was able to take my Dad and little Insuragator to watch the nets get cut down last night. It will be pretty special to look back on someday as 3 generations sat together for the game.
Great season!!

Congrats and thanks to our Gators and the seniors for a memorable season, regardless of what comes next (and to you, insuragator, for your new lasting memory).

Love those regular season SEC Titles more than any SEC Tourney title. It's the regular season titles that really mean something IMO.
Go Gators!
