Nothing. I have no argument against it as being a bad thing to do at all. My personal preference is just for it to be more of a tournament thing for teams that have had bigtime national success (even SEC tourney if the coach chooses).

I'll make fun of Indiana for doing it after a loss where they clinched a share of a conference title all day. You're right that Florida's situation would be very different and I wouldn't see anything wrong with it. Just a preference. Its very possible Kentucky has cut down the nets for regular season conference titles before - I can't remember. Not a right or wrong thing by any means.

This is a very interesting and curious thread.

Keeping pieces of net following a championship is perhaps a thing that some might like, and I can certainly see the logic from an emotional perspective.

It does, however, appear pretty strange to cut down the nets following a home loss.

Frankly, its stupid and points to some kind of deep seated inferiority complex. It's not as if IU doesn't have a great history. They don't need to do that.

I'm glad we cut them down tonight. Winning an unshared title and doing it at home doesn't happen all that often and its great for the players, families and fans to be able to share in the experience.

I know its done for tourney championships, but 99% of the time, its a neutral venue.
