It's first, second, and third about power. Political party affiliation, if it's on the list doesn't even make the first page.
Getting so worked up about the "other" side benefiting misses this point. Those in power have more or less always protected themselves from being prosecuted or even suffering damaging non-criminal punishment, which is the point. The nature of the crying about some things being buried now implicitly assumes that pub transgressions have never been buried in the past by the same msm. It's nonsense.
Look at the whole Deborah Jeane Palfrey scandal of which Vitter was involved. Brian Ross at ABC had a list containing over tens of thousands of phone numbers but then *poof* somehow only two or three relatively minor DC players were implicated, and then the story more or less went away on ABC's claim? How believable is that?
