Finally saw it this weekend. Just by coincidence, saw Argo a few hours later. No comparison. Silver Linings Playbook is like being in a movie. Loved every character in the film. Realistic and heart rending depiction of families and individuals dealing with mental illness. Great story of redemption and the healing power of kindness to others.
Argo was a great story, but I felt like I was looking back in time, not reliving it. Felt very connected to the protagonist, but no connection with the hostages. Didn't really care what happened to them.
I don't know what the big deal was about Affleck not getting nominated for Best Director. It's always going to be like this, nine or ten Best Picture nominations and only six nominations for Best Director. Not even sure why Argo won Best Picture, though there wasn't a clear favorite. Amour was probably the best film, but nobody saw it. My favorites of the nominated films are Zero Dark Thirty, Beasts of the Southern Wild and Silver Linings Playbook. My favorite film of the year is still Moonrise Kingdom.

Been waiting for Silver Linings to come on PPV/iTunes so I won't have to go to the theater but that doesn't look like it will happen soon.
If I don't go to Dwight Yoakam tonight, I may just cave and go to the theater.

Was surprised that Argo came to PPV so quickly. We were on our way home from the theater where Argo was still playing and a friend asked if we wanted to hang out and watch Argo at home. Wouldn't be surprised if Silver Linings showed up on PPV soon.
I'm starting to think that great movies need to be seen in the theater. I've paid very close attention to how I've "consumed" the films I've seen this year and how much I enjoyed them. Loved seeing Skyfall on a big screen. Saw Moonrise Kingdom four times, the first three in the theater and the last on PPV. I actually liked it most the second and third times and the least when I saw it at home. We've got a decent size (40 something inch) TV and decent audio. I've finally gotten my wife to agree to turning off all the lights while we watch movies. It just wasn't as affecting. Also saw Beasts at home.

I just saw this for the first time last night. WOW.
I can see why Jennifer Lawrence won best actress.
Jennifer Lawrence is HOT!!!
Great performance. Didn't think she could do better than Hunger Games, but I was certainly wrong.
I think she has the potential to be a HUGE star for a long time.

Saw it. Me and my girlfriend both watched it and we liked it.
It's a very good role for Cooper. I'm surprised he didn't win the Oscar for his roll as a bonafide nut-case.

I saw it a couple of weeks and loved it. Now I get all the hullaballoo about Jennifer Lawrence. Geez!
I though DeNiro and Chris Tucker were fantastic as well. Solid, solid movie.

Best movie I have seen in a while. It kind of reminded me of Little Miss Sunshine, which was another great movie.
