Part of what you do in raising children is make sacrifices for their benefit. That's a necessary virtue of being a parent that a non-parent may not be capable of understanding. Her values are not only unacceptable but blithely ignorant about the true nature of humans, who don't exist as individuals, never have, and never will. Western individualism offers many benefits to those who who can enjoy it, but it is also a relatively modern luxury not to be confused with first principles of human existence and survival.

Since I began practicing law in Orlando in 1974, every member of the Orange County Bar Association has been required to take 2 pro bono cases each year or contribute $350.00 per year to the Legal Aid Society.

I do not know of any other profession that requires its members to take on pro bona cases. There probably are some, but I don't know of them.

Of those to which much is given, much is expected.

I would say the former.
Terrible thing it is to give away virtually all of your wealth to charity. He must be a bad man who was forced to give billions to others.

How many millionaires/billionaires do you know in Hollywood and professional sports who are willing to give all of their money away?

Hell, if you are successful and don't feel guilty about it, you're greedy.

"Greed" is a nonsensical epithet losers use describe those who are successful and happy.
My wife and I came from nothing. We got married at 19 (her) and 22 (me). We had our first child when she was 21 and I was 24. We've been married for 46 years this year.

I served during the Vietnam War, and went to law school with a young wife and 2 very young children. I went through 9 straight quarters because our kids needed to eat. When I graduated, we had $500.00 and a beat up VW.

I've worked long hours practicing law for 38 years. I'm still working long hours at 68 years old.

We have lived a good life, but are not rich. We live pretty frugally. My wife and I both have 12 year old cars.

We have given a significant amount of money to charities for more years than I can remember.

We put 3 kids through college, and have paid a lot of money to help one of our grandchildren who is severly autistic.

No one has given us anything. Our "success" was built on hard work.

I feel blessed, but not guilty. Why should I?

Query: Is borrowing trillions that we cannot repay and foisting the debt off on our children and grandchildren greedy? I think so.

The system is built upon debt...perpetual debt. Like I said before if there is no debt there is no money in supply.

It is not a matter of thinking so. You know so! It is also the height of immorality and theft. It is taking for self and burdening another who has no voice to contest of complain.
