Palm's bracket as of 3/4/13
Yeah, I know, another bracket projection. But IMO its fun to talk about different placements, seedings and opponents - however premature this may be.
Palms bracket places Florida as a 3 seed in he Midwest and this looks to me to be the worst draw a mock bracket has given Florida yet.
http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology
If seedings prevailed, Florida's road to the title would look like this:
(14) Valparasio
(6) Pitt
(2) Miami
(1) Indiana (elite eight)
(1) Georgetown (final four)
(1) Gonzaga or Duke (title game)
Obviously seedings never prevail, but I see Miami and Indiana as relatively tough matchups. Getting a 1 seed sure would be nice because, IMO, some of the best teams in the nation are 2 and 3 seeds. It'd be nice to play one of the 4's instead.
Also, in Palm's bracket, look at how big a difference your region makes. If you land in the West as the 3 seed, instead of the midwest, your second weekend is against New Mexico and Gonzaga - instead of Miami and Indiana. I'm telling you, more years than not, you want to land in the West even though its further away.

Also poor Miami. They get a 2 seed and then they are rewarded with a sweet 16 match up with Florida.

I actually like the draw...I don't think we end up a 3 seed, but I'd like to get a crack at Miami (not sure they would get past Ohio State)

that probably is the most likely outcome. the miami vs florida match up would be interesting. similar to a kansas vs missouri one, too (i think lunardi had that one last week). just love to pit hated rivals against one another along the way to add regional and nat'l interest.
not really afraid. gotta beat the best to be the best. and - after a couple of titles - i'm not all that into 'how far we can advance' for this year's squad, unlike in years past. when you have a good team: bring on the best.

That's the worst draw UF could get, not because of Miami, but if UF makes it to the great 8, they'd probably have to play IU in Indianapolis, which would be equivalent to a hostile road game.

and yeah - send us out west. might actually have just as many gator fans, and maybe less anti-gator fans in the stands than at other venues.

We're very unlikely to beat Indiana in Indy. So is anyone else. Sure hope that bracket projection doesn't occur.

Yep, that bracket is crap.

Palm has definitely been the outlier this year. Almost every bracket he has looks entirely different from those of others.

No, thanks...but I would LOVE to beat Duke in the title game. That would RULE!
If we're healthy, we would crush Duke on a neutral court, barring any ref chicanery.

Lunardi updated his bracket today and has Florida as the 3 seed in the south with the following path to the title:
(14) South Dakota st
(6) Pitt
(2) Miami
(1) Georgetown
(1) Indiana
(1) Kansas or Gonzaga
Really the main difference is being in the South and facing Georgetown as the 1 instead of Indiana. This is MUCH better IMO. I don't think Georgetown is as good as Florida and is certainly much easier than playing Indiana in Indiana.

I think if we win in Rupp and then win the SECt we will be a #1 or #2 (more likely) seed. If we lose at Rupp but win the SECt (or vise versa), I think that about locks us in as a #3 seed. If we lose both, I think we would be in danger of dropping to a #4 or #5.

At this point, I really don't care what seed, as long as we're not paired with IU in the Indianapolis region, that's by far, the most biased game location in the tourney, with a top team.

Agree completely. Honestly, Its possible the 5th overall rated team (highest 2 seed in theory) lands in the midwest with Indy. I'd rather be a 4 or even a 5 seed in an easier region.

After Vandy, I say play the freshmen and Yeguete. Take a beating at UK and in the SEC tourney 1st round and get shipped out west as a 4 seed.
