Saved 4 match points but not #5. Cercone looks like she is headed for a 3rd set.

Alex has been here before, but this girl she is playing is really good. Gonna be tough with one set winner takes all.

Cercone also looks like she is gimpy, walking a little gingerly after dropping the set.

She doesn't seem to be handling the wind very well.

Alex is looping the ball and her opponent is mashing it and moving her all over the court.

She looks defeated. Terrible body language. She finally won a point

This one is over folks....tough start in conference play. Have to hope UGA knocks off TAMU now
A little disappointed in Jano's spotty play this spring. I figured her to be an automatic W at #6 singles and a good bet at 4 or 5 after her suer fall. But it hasn't carried over. Wonder if Hitimana gets a little more time on the court.

never thought it would be the men that would win today and the women would be the ones to lose their match w/ A&M

Hitimana should play doubles at least. As we have seen this year, doubles is a big deal. Too many teams can win 3 singles matches. Gotta think after losing 4 of the last 5 doubles points, a change is in order.

Really surprising from Cercone, but loss here is hardly the end of the world at this point of the season.
I think the biggest problem for this team, like the men, is doubles. We have lost that point against every top 10 team we've faced this season (after being virtually unbeatable in doubles the past few years). It is pretty tough mentally to have to grind from behind every match. We are certainly capable, but it would be a tall order to win 3 or 4 matches back to back at NCAAs that way.

It is odd how almost the entire women's team has done a 180 from the fall.
Oyen, Collins and Janowicz all seem to have tailed off significantly (at least in consistency if not caliber of play), while Cercone and Morgan have kind of emerged after unspectacular fall results.
Still a couple of months to get everyone firing on all cylinders before it really matters.

You are right, almost polar opposites between fall and spring. Oyen actually reached #1 in the rankings and now is not a sure thing playing #2 on the ladder.
Morgan has definitely been a pleasant surprise and should only get better. Collins was one I expected to be Mather's replacement at 3 and maybe even play some at 2, but has been playing like a freshman so far, erratic.

Great locker room today after the men took down Texas A&M. Mike Alford was not going to give in to his talented freshman opponent. And in the end Mike prevailed. Texas A&M is good. This win will help the team big time.
