The real problem is 'game threads', always a lot of knee jerk reactions. Sooner or later every player gets bashed.

Soft means, gets pushed around. The term is usually used to describe big men who do not play with the aggression to match their size.
It also means not solid. Cushy or flaccid.
I'm assuming you were looking for definition No. 1

That's an important distinction.
Some posters can't be critical without juvenile name calling and insults.

He plays soft and lazy at times. This is a fact.

Murphy has steadily improved his body and his game sense he was a freshman. He will be a steal for somebody late first round, early second because he has plenty of room for further strength improvements.

posters need to up their game on the gamethread. alot are just too soft and borderline pathetic - especially if one assumes they are a college educated poster or alumni. pathetic vocabulary; pathetic sentence structure; can't express their true feelings in an elevated manner.
to me: posters need to up their "game" and think and post like a coach or a parent of a player. if your style is to demean and badger your players as a coach - if you think that's the way to optimize their performance, i'd suggest a new career.

The comments that are critical of play (i.e. not boxing out, not hustling, etc.) are good. Here in Colorado, it is the next best thing to sitting with gator fans.
I'm with you in finding it hard to stomach the name calling and negativity in the game threads when things aren't going our way. Sometimes in the stands, you get unlucky and sit by fans like that. It will happen every time on a gator board.

The entire team did not box out effectively - at times - yesterday.
Some games just work out that way because of the way the ball bounces, and sometimes it is intensified by a lack of effort. Yesterday was some of both, coupled with Bama's aggressive positioning and more physical play under the basket - at times.
And they were lucky on the bounce, many times.

No apologies, I'm a Murphy fan. Back in his soph year when we almost lost him' I prayed hard for the Gators sake. Seems to be a quiet type which doesn't get him much "hype". I think the offense is far better when he is in the game, and he more than earns his time on defense. Nor a flashy player, but a solid Gator.

Murphy pulled down eight boards yesterday. That is hardly getting killed. The other thing to bear in mind is that our bigs were getting hurt on the defensive glass because they were having to help cut off dribble penetration. It is hard to box out when your man is under the basket and you are 6-8 feet away. I can't remember a game where we got beat off the bounce as much as we did at times yesterday.

Rellford is tough. He got in the lane just about whenever he wanted.
