Miami has had a nice season but I don't understand the talk of them being a 1-seed.
They have 3 terrible losses (vs. Indian State, @Wake, @Florida Gulf Coast). In ESPN's BPI they're #14 and in Pomeroy ratings they're #13. Prior to tonight's result they look like a 3-seed to me.

I have rarely disagreed with your insights on this board but did on Kelly. Curious if you are rethinking your position on how much he elevated Duke.

Does having Kelly back elevate Duke to a #1 seed even if Miami wins this game? I'm sure the selection committee will take into account that Duke was undefeated before he got hurt. Would they give 2 teams from a weaker ACC #1 seeds?

I think the kid is very good. But he does not have huge impact on the issues I see for this duke team... Most of which are on the defensive side (esp. on perimeter) of the ball and on the glass.

That begs the question... How does the committee take into consideration our injury issues, and the fact that we are finally healthy?

Well, I have to admit that Kelly's presence forces me to re-evaluate their spot in the cbb hierarchy.

If Indiana and Gonzaga have locked up 1 seeds, then you only have 2 spots left to choose between Miami, Duke (with Kelly back), Florida (finally healthy), Kansas, Georgetown, Michigan State, Louisville, and Michigan.
It's been a crazy year.

The problem is that none of our injured players were stars, or even really the kinds of guys people outside the SEC have heard of.
We're fans, we follow this team religiously, so we know how important Yeguette is, and we know how good a shooter Frazier is, and we know how important Prather is to our depth, but the guys on the committee aren't Gator fans (and more's the pity).
These folks are going to say, "A guy who scores six points a game, a true freshman shooter who missed one game and a reserve swingman who scores, what, five points a game? All of these are bench players."
Most outside observers are going to look at that and shrug, because no one has enough time to truly understand the important bench players on every team.

I agree, though I recall the talking heads writing off Florida's season when it was expected that yeguete's was done.

I think Duke is locked into a #1 seed now with a win over Miami and having Kelly back.

That, and having d-u-k-e on the jersey helps.

True, but I think it has more to do with who their coach is then what their name is. Coack K IS Duke though so I guess it's one and the same.

I agree with everything you say, except that Indiana State is not a terrible loss. They are right around where Arkansas is (mid 70's rank)

Duke still probably has the best resume in the country - beat Minnesota, VCU, Louisville, Ohio State, NC State, and Miami, making them 6-1 against teams that currently have a BPI > 80. Easily deserving of a #1 seed.

I said back in December that they had the best resume and that it wouldn't be surpassed. I agree about them deserving a 1 seed unless they lose @ UNC and then early in the ACC Tourney.

I think Georgetown loses early in the Big East tourney (favorites always go down early there). I like Indiana, Duke, Gonzaga, and Michigan (who I think wins the Big 10 tourney).
