The Honey Badger of college basketball. Maybe Arkansas who has some great guards with some height could do it. Yuguete if well might have slowed him down, we will probably get another chance in the SEC Tournament.

Our problems, of course injuries of which Rem says everybody has them, he is right, but I think our most glaring problem is we don't have anyone who can on the road be consistent or the moneyman when the game is on the line. That will probably be next year. A lot of NBN'ers didn't like Erv, but he wanted the ball and could shoot lights out most times. When he didn't he got vilified. Well, Boynton, Rosario, Wilbekin, Murphy are up now and have to put up or go home in almost tourney time.

Hoping for the best, people getting well and people making big shots coming down the stretch in all these remaining games of this season. Come on Kenny lets finish on a high note. I pulling for ya! Go Gators
I think that's a very good point. I always think the "so who takes the last shot" question is an interesting one to do for teams. Sometimes "that guy" doesn't emerge till the end of the year though. You make a good point in alluding to the fact that its not just that someone needs to have this ability, but someone needs to have that mindset also.

I'm not sure who that is on this team. I don't think this team necessarily needs that kind of 'end of game isolation - beat your man' player actually. I think we've seen Wilbekin show an ability to drive and dish - whether that means kick out or give it to someone under the basket. Then all you need is someone to hit the shot. Its easier to be the guy who hits the open three than it is to be the guy who knows he's got to take his man one-on-one and both create and score. If you have that guy, great. If not, let Scotty decide. Don't try and force someone to be something they haven't proven capable of.

A lot of NBN'ers didn't like Erv, but he wanted the ball and could shoot lights out most times.
Well:

1. McRae scored on 2 break aways. Both were good plays on his part and he deserves full credit for the steal and lay up and the block which his teammate passed to him for a run out. However those plays were not within the offense. Take them away and McRae is 7 for 18 from the field or 39% when UF was actually guarding him. So the idea that he scored when he wanted to, implying all the rest of the times he did not want to score seems pretty silly.

2. The idea that E. Walker shot lights out "MOST OF THE TIME" equally flies in the fact of the facts. E. Walker was a very good shooter. He was much like Boynton in that he was streaky. Walker particularly struggled against teams like UTn and UK who had big athletic guards. Walker had hot and cold games as Boynton etal have and will have and all player have and will have.

Insti, the facts as you like to state, let's talk:

McRae: 27 pts, 7 reb's, 4 assists, 2 blks, 2 steals
He will be the player of the week in the SEC
9 of 20 from the field, 6 of 8 from the FT line
*These Kobie Bryant type stats are from the Gatorzone boxscore.

The Gators dream of having a wing like him.
Billy dreams of having a player like him.
A one man wrecking crew.

As for Erv. In the Gator record books, go read them. See how many games he led in scoring or hit the game winner. He was definitely not as streaky as Boynton.
Was he small, you betcha. Did he want the ball at the end, you got it. The problem with Erv was Billy knew he was a phenomenal shooter and gave him the green light whether we were playing big guards or not. When we played the big guards we should have work it in and got others involved but Billy wanted it in his hands. A testament to how good he was. If he would have been 6'1" he would be in the NBA. He is a better shooter than the current team we have, except for Frazier. His body of work was great and I applaud Billy for giving him the chance to be a Gator.

Bullish;

Sorry, but I disagree. Jordan McRae has been on fire at home the last couple of weeks. While he had an excellent first half, I thought Scottie played him as tough as anyone. Just check out his stat line:

LSU: 13-18 FG 6-6 3 PT 2-2 FT

Kentucky: 6-11 FG 1-1 3 PT 2-2 FT

Now considering he was 7-11 FG 3-6 3 PT in the first half, Scottie held him to 2-9 FG and 0-3 3 PT in the second half. Trust me, being here in Atlanta we get all of the SEC games and I have watched McRea lately and those shots he made were mostly contested. He is playing really really well.

McRae lit us up. Yes the first half he got the lead for them almost singlehandily. The second half was pedestrian, but the blocks, the steals, the assists, the seven rebounds, I guess I was puffing it up a little, but if we had someone to do this this year, I must have miss it. They slowed the game down in the second half, this probably didn't work to his athletic ability and his offense. But I stand on this guy put on a show, one us Gator fans didn't like but Tennessee fans wallered in and should be proud of. This guy will make All SEC and when ever he wants, the NBA is waiting.

His numbers you posted even make me feel even more uneasy about what he did. This means he on a good day could have scored a lot more. Oh my! We could possibly meet them in their second home Nashville. We didn't match up well with them so I hope with Will back hopefully 100% and Frazier making threes which he does with a high percentage, maybe we get them back!

What fn joke of a thread. McCrae, the other players, the coaching staff and all their fans, even the ones in "gator fan costumes" can all suck it.

Thumbs up

I hope he can shoot good enough from the outside to man the wing position. If he can we could have Walker at PF, Harris or Pat at c if he comes back. A great front line. I can't wait to see the freshmen and transfers in action.

This would also allow MF3 play at his natural position 2g and also provide minutes at the wing when needed. Adding to all this talent, pg Kasey Hill. This kid will get us running on all cylinders and allow these guys to be all they can be. It is hard waiting to see all how all this talent will mesh. I hope they have Midnight Madness for these guys, a great way to start careers at Florida with the whole nation watching and wondering what they are going to do to try and slow these guys down.

Come on down Julius and be part of team heading for the top!

Can I assume you are the same with football and will confirm, for example, that Gaffney absolutely, without question, caught that ball for the winning TD against UT (if you're old enough to know what game I'm referring to)?
Not old enough to remember.

Edit: Just barely, though. I was definitely watching UT football at this time.

And then they go and lose to an under .500 UGA team by 10. Unless they win the SECT, the Vols will be enjoying the NIT.

All of those victories over the Gators haven't meant very much for them in the long run.
