Likely NCAA 1st Round Lexington Pod Pairing: UF & Miami
very likely we end up in lexington for the 1st and 2nd round of the NCAA's.
miami is likely to be shipped there to Rupp Arena too.
for those gator fans that attend - would you 'pull for' miami during their games?
for alot of the non-football sports my "hatred" of the canes isn't as strong. as a native Floridian, i might find myself actually wanting teams from florida - even canes and noles - to do well in the ncaa's (as long as it's not a good as UF - can't give up bragging rights, naturally).
granted, when i attend the orange bowl basketball classic , i find myself rooting for whoever is playing against the canes (or noles). usually it's an in-state team, though. like FAU, etc. that makes it easy.
i might actually root for miami to advance ...i don't have an issue with or gripe about their team (has Kadji) or coach. (hate that obnoxious ibis, though! ) on second thought, maybe i just won't root against them, if i'm in the stands....

I've mentioned this before...as a native Floridian living outside, I don't root against Florida schools as much as when I lived in Florida. I find in the Carolina's that often people can't separate the schools. They will talk smack to me when FSU loses...I then have to remind them that I don't care because I'm a gator. Sometimes its more fun to just hope the Florida teams beat everyone in the ACC...and then we crush those same Florida teams.

And I, as a native Floridian, do not root for any other Florida teams in any sport. Its UF or nothing.

Haha. I'm in NC and I get that FSU and UF mix up from people too. I have to remind them that mixing those 2 up to Florida fans is like saying to Carolina fans something about the Blue Devils.

If a "fan" of any college team in any sport doesn't know the difference between Miami, FSU and Florida, then he is a sports dolt. I know the difference between Tar Heels and BLue Devils, Trojans and Bruins. Run the other way as fast as you can.

Why USF? Have they ever beaten us in anything? I usually root for them to beat Miami and FSU.

Florida may be faltering but I still can't see that game happening before the second weekend of the tournament.

They can play in the same location and be in different brackets...

Canes can lose in the first round and I will be fine. And Bogey, Im a little surprised by your conclusion given that I assume you have attended a few UF/UM events over the years. Perhaps this weekend's UF/Um baseball game will get you back on track.
I dont see any reason to root for them, especially as a few of their fans are starting to peak out from under the bed. No reason to give them hope in anything.

with the U's inside game, UF doesn't match up very well. That game could be ugly.

just to clarify - we WON'T be playing miami in lexington. but we're likely to be there playing - playing different games; representing different regions.

oh yes.
the stereotypical cane fan is insufferable. but i gather they think about us the same way. since being 'down here' i've encountered some 'okay' cane fans. i think a game w/ the gators just draws out more of their worst fans. that seems evident.
if i'm in attendance, if i'm pulling for them, it won't be because of the typical cane fan, that's for sure. it'll mostly be 'for florida'. likely, though, i'll root for whomever they play. hard to buck the DNA, you know.

I have a feeling once the spotlight is actually turned on them in the biggest stage they're going to crap themselves

The fact that this is their first time with a good team in... well... forever? makes it seem like that would be the case. I actually have the opposite feeling though. I don't know why, but I think Miami is going to do huge things in the tournament this year. Total speculation on my part. It will be interesting to see how far people have them going in their brackets.

I won't be sure about that yet since Louisville is coming up strong right now. 3 teams fighting for two spots. Hopefully Duke can beat Miami this sat.

living in south Florida, there are few things in life I hate more than the University of Miami at every level as an institution....
other than their medical school, they can all go straight to hell! nothing good about the place (other than the medical school).
