McRae could not be stopped. What a game. If he played like this every game he should be in the NBA. Stokes 14 Rebounds and he was on the bench a lot. They are a tough match-up for anybody in the SEC right now. Ask Kentucky who they blew out.

My props to the Vols team and fans that came prepared and fought to the final minute.
We tried, but were short handed. I think I saw Ogbueze and Walker in for a minute or two, but I haven't seen the box score yet.

Hopefully, we get some players back and have enough left to finish the season as regular season champions.

I'm going to assume that Stokes won't get away with just knocking people out of the way to get a rebound on a neutral court.

He had a huge game on the boards but most of those rebounds should have been fouls called!!!!

I agree with Vol. I didn't think he was fouling. He just wants it more and gets after it more. He's tough.

I don't know about being run off the floor, but they'd be in the tournament easily and maybe SEC champs with Maymon.

And if we imagine what they would be like with Maymon, we can imagine what we would be like with Willy Yegs and Frazier. The Vols stunk out loud earlier in the season. They were a discombobulated mess. No team challenges the Gators this year if we are healthy.

Eh, both teams played without players last night, and UT had the bigger loss in Maymon's 13 and 8 from last year. I'm a big Yeguette fan and think he's incredibly valuable, but dont' act like the Gators are the only team dealing with injuries. Keep in mind that after tonight, my team will be 1 game back in the SEC standings after having lost an NBA number 1 draft pick. We've all got injuries. Me pointing out the impact of other teams' injuries doesn't diminish Florida's injuries. You guys will be healthy come March (unlike UT and UK) - and March is what matters.

I agree about the Vols early in the season though. Horrific. Martin needs to figure out how to start the season better.

And that was exactly my point. Another poster imagined UT + Maymon. As you point out, every team has injuries and the Gators are no exception. The Gators, however, were far and away the best SEC team before this recent rash of injuries. My point of contention was your claim that UT + Maymon might challenge for the SEC. They were so bad early on that he could not have put them over the top.

UT hasn't had him all year, its a bit different then losing key players in the year

Tennessee was missing: A decent-to-good player.

Florida was missing: 25% of our rotation, including one of the top "glue guys" in the country and our second best three-point shooter (on a night that ended with a 1-13 streak from three).

And Tennessee had the bigger loss? That's preposterous to anyone with even a cursory understanding of basketball.

A friend who went to UTenn sent me a factoid this am that even he said made zero rational sense:
Since 2006, Florida has won two national titles, made two Elite Eights, had 10 players drafted...and is just 5-11 against Tennessee

Any of the basketball junkies want to try and explain? Too much emphasis on the UK rivalry?

I honestly think its the style of play and type of player UT recruits. They tend to have a ton of athleticism and length. Not necessarily polished players, which is why you don't see a lot of UT guys in the NBA. They have guys that simply get after it hard. It's a bad matchup for us since we are usually a little more finesse.

I will try basketball season is nothing like a football season as we all know. One two or even three losses really don't matter. In that time frame Florida could have been resting up for two naty runs etc. My motto with college basketball has always been if it ain't March don't watch. However this year I have watched 70% of the games and the losses just stick out alot more in fans eyes than the wins! I seen a stat last night that had the gators with like 5 quality wins and 0 bad losses!

My guess would be our style doesn't match up well with their style. They usually have a team full of tall, lanky, athletic players at most of their positions on the floor. We struggle against their height and athleticism. Our style of play doesn't go bang inside often and we struggle to get good shots off against them.

Any fouls committed by anyone were called. If they aren't called - whether the ref missed it or just didn't think it was a foul - it doesn't matter because they aren't fouls. No sense in complaining over something so silly.
