Terrible Call (and no calls) in KU/ISU Game
Iowa St giving a gritty performance hosting KU. ISU up 2, KU had the ball with 11 tics, player drives the length of the court, ISU defender has position. Clearly a charge, but no call. The KU center tackles an ISU rebounder - no call. Even worse, the ball lands on the KU shooter, who appears to have one hand out of bounds. Even worse, he's laying on top of an ISU guy and they call a foul on the ISU guy. KU two FTs to tie and go to O/T. If KU wins, this one was gifted.

And now KU has an 8 pt lead. Doubt ISU can comeback. Really feel bad for the Cyclones *sigh* Damn KU and their late hot 3 pt shooting.

Yep - KU went on an 8-0 run to win this one in OT. Never should have been.

True, but they can't afford to miss any FTs (which they have) nor let KU get offensive rebounds... and KU hits another 3. :-p

Why can't we get the benefit of bullchit calls like the one at the end of regulation? It seems that we are always in the same boat as Iowa St. getting robbed by the refs.

This is the kind of robbery that the selection committee needs to consider when determining seeding.

Very poor officiating at the end of regulation... calling the foul on Young instead of Withey who would have fouled out.

Why can't Donovan get our guys to run a play like that?

The head of Big 12 officiating evidently said late last night they will review the last minute of regulation. Hopefully they do more than review!

FWIW, this was debated on First Take today...Stephen A said "it happens, it's the human factor, sometimes refs let emotions get in the way of judgment, etc"...and Skip Bayless and they should be punished by being demoted to lesser (non national TV) conference games....my personal opinion is we should add an extra ref to the games....

I caught the end of that game live and even the announcers that it was a terrible call. Not calling the charge was as bad as calling the phantom foul call on Iowa st on the rebound.
Stephen A is right, it happens, but usually only to certain teams. And the "emotions getting in the way" or the crowd influencing the call shouldn't apply here since it was at Iowa St.

It could also happen if the official or several have money coming for such things. Not saying they did, but that's the real danger when they suck that bad. Only thing to do is replace them so it does not happen again. If they go Sukey because of the heat of the moment they are not cut out for the job.

The Big 12 today stated that the refs blew the call with 5 seconds left in regulation and that they will demote those refs. This does not deal with the fact that the refs handed the game to KU. ISU should have been at the line shooting foul shots with 5 seconds left and a two point lead. In most cases that would be a win.
