Doherty fails to understand a basic aspect of sound, whether you are talking about speech, music, or any aspect: The period of silence is as important as the period of sound in achieving greatness.

Doherty feels like he must fill ever microsecond with the sound of his voice. No wonder he has been fired twice by major bb program. An example: when P. Young passed out for a three, Doherty could not get off his belief that Young should have gone up hard. BB is a matter of choices; a lot easier for a guy in the booth (or a computer monitor ) to assert a different choice as the best choice.

A common topic with all of the games that are broadcasted, is who will earn a number one seed. That discussion has been brought up every time I've seen Florida on television. And there will be a direct correlation between how we're playing and whether or not we deserve that seed. We may think that it has more to do with the overall body of work, but the announcers are going to tie in how we're playing-at the moment-with what they think.

We did not look like an elite, number-one seed for the first twenty minutes of that game. It's not Doherty's job to tell everybody we look like an elite team when we're not playing well. Even our own fans on the game thread were pointing out that Arkansas was doing a good job defensively in the first half, and I think Doherty was impressed too.

He gave Young a lot of praise in the second half, and constantly talked about how well our bigs were running the floor. I saw nothing wrong with his commentary. He called it how he saw it.

the belt from his pants was probably choking him. he wears his pants so high up on his body he looks like a 1920's baseball player--dork. he really did suck as a coach. espn will let anyone that was an excoach become an announcer

Who cares what that clown says. He couldn't even win as a coach at UNC his alma mater. His players hated him. You have to be a big douchebag to lose at UNC. He spent one year at FAU and then bolted for SMU. He had 5 or 6 poor years there and got fired and now he's an expert on tv.

Yeah I thought it was pretty strange how he went into a whole dissertation on blocking shots with your left hand when young got called for a foul with less than a second left and the gators up big. The game was over at that point.

It reminded me of playing madden or something where the announcers make comments using their "artificial intelligence" but half the time are completely oblivious to the game situation.

I'm just tired of the incessant commentary about how the ball needs to go into the post. Give it a rest already.

It has changed now by adding 11 rebounds to the Razorback total. The link to espn on the MVG thread still has them with 30. Amazing how they can be that far off.

This was the major issue regardless if you believe Doherty has an anti-Gator bias or not. As I stated before he knows his Xs and Os but I suddenly realized (thanks to another post in this thread) what bothered me most about his analysis. He kept suggesting perfectly logical plays and situations but they were based on HIS personal philosophy and not Billy Donovan's nor the Florida personnel. That is why he kept getting it in his head that Erik Murphy, one of the most lethal long distance shooters in the SEC, should work the blocks more.

Maybe I just don't like ex-Heels. Or Dookies.

BTW, that is a pretty good analysis that some dead air is a good thing too. Picture worth a thousand words and all that....

Doherty has been hyper critical of the Gators every time I have seen him as our announcer.
My only problem with this is the negative impression it may give to anyone tuning in that later has any input whatsoever in determining seeding for the tourney brackets.
If his stupid commentary costs us so much as one place in the seeding I say we lynch him and cut out his tongue!!! Lol

Would absolutely not affect seeding whatsoever. Ash or whatever his name is could be calling the game and it wouldn't matter.
