The fact is Obama is a celebrity and people don't question the lavish jet-set lifestyles of celebrities. They can't get enough of it. Celebrities are exempt from the 1% pejorative.

I don't think anyone denies that Obama is a celebrity. He is a cool guy to most people. Not sure that he qualifies as rich in the sense he is referring to ($11 million net worth) He certain isn't middle class, but I think he is talking about the really wealthy. The difference is that he appears to care about the middle and lower class.

Actually, Obama didn't say the love of the rich connected the GOP, it was the refusal to raise taxes on the rich. So tell me again why that means he's not supposed to hang out with any rich people?

Obama is several degrees off of cool. Far from it actually. Media just likes to try and pass him off as cool just like with everything else they spin positively for him. They talk about what a great athlete he is and then you see him throw a ball or his golf swing and you realize he is the kid who was picked last when splitting up teams. When he is not wearing those expensive suits provided to him as POTUS he dresses kind of funny wearing mom jeans and skinny jeans and such. He appears very awkward in social situations and around other people and is generally very uptight. Members of his own staff have commented he really doesn't like other people much but yet the media proclaims him and everyman and man of the people. Like his presidency much of his image and life is a big facade.

Appears is the operative word and an appropriate description because he has proven through his actions that he cares about the poor like a dealer cares about the addict

Barack and Michelle spending their free time partying hard with the super wealthy---much more fun than doing stuff with the "underclass." When money is no object---spend it!
