It's February. While I agree we have a lot to work on, there is a whole lot of time. Maybe I am overly optimistic, but I doubt that we miss the tournament. Vandy was terrible to begin last year because they were so young. They were much improved by the end of the year. I expect that we will do the same. We have too much talent to play this way all year long.

Eagles will have their brooms out tomorrow going for the sweep. Agree it is early but right now we are just not a fundamentally sound club. Way to many mistakes to win against teams like UGC. Pitching, defense, hitting, base running, you name it, we are not good at it right now. The best thing about baseball is it is a 56 game schedule.

Fundamentals are exactly the things that a young team lacks, regardless of who they play. Execution against higher competition is a different matter. As you say, it's a 56 game schedule and this team has tremendous opportunity for growth. I might be completely wrong, but given Sully's track record I think we will go toe to toe with anyone by the end of the year.

I can't disagree with how we are playing right now. Even our pitching has been less than expected, but I swear every player announced is a freshman. I am still learning our roster and I follow baseball pretty closely. We have the coaching and we have the talent. We lack experience and execution. Given what we have, the other elements are bound to happen sooner or later.
