How is Bama #7 they have won more National titles then anybody including 3 of 4. No way Uga belongs a head of Bama. I also don't agree with Osu ahead of Florida.

1) Texas, 2) USC, 3) Fla, 4-10) Debatable, many are willing to write checks but don't have the resources to compete with the Big 3.
ND may still have a big war chest and a bunch of delusional fans but too much competition for recruits to maintain superior elite prospects.

The guy runs around Jax with Hacker on his hat and has a Jags jersey with Hacker on the back. Probably the biggest douche in Duval.

Seems about right but I'd replace FSU with Oregon and VT with somebody, maybe Oklahoma State

As OBOB noted, that article is from quite a while ago. The FSU picture shows Bowden on the sidelines and USC shows Pete Carroll.

Bama is lower for two reasons-
1) Pressure (also why Florida is behind OSU-- you think we'd take a coach who lost to Georgia 4 or 5 years in row?)
2) No one wants to follow a legend- following a Spurrier or a Meyer is hard, unless you're a top level coach you're always going to look worse than the guy before you (see Zook vs. Spurrier in terms of record; or Boom vs. Meyer so far) following Saban will be even worse.

I would say that Texas at one since they have their pick of the state of Tx, lots of money, make lots of money, winnable conf, there is patience from the high-ups. After that:
2) Florida (solid recruiting in state, patience to win, good support from fans/alum)
3) Alabama (I think the pressure to win can be hindering and they can't recruit the state by themselves
4) LSU (A scaled down Tx in my opinion)
5) Ohio St
6) USCw
7) ND
8) Mich
9) OU
10) Oregon

Splitting hairs in a lot of cases. Throw a 4 or 5 into a hat and take your pick, as long as UF is # 1.

ESPN did a study a few years back where they polled coaches and wouldn't release the names. Anyhow, Florida came out an overwhelming #1 (120 coaches) and Florida had around 50 first place votes and next closest was Texas at 35 or so. Was a very interesting article (around 2005 or so i believe)
Anyhow, here's my list....
#1- Texas (hotbed for recruiting in large state and no competitors except OU)
#2- Florida (great recruiting, large fan base, best school in state, $$$$, The Swamp!)
#3- LSU (like someone else said, a smaller version of texas)
#4- Georgia (like it or not a sleeping Giant and we've always been in their way and if a truly great coach ever shows up to their door step it's gonna get crazy)
#5- USC (LA, recruiting, LA, recruitng and recruiting)
#6- Ohio State
#7- Alabama
#8- Oklahoma
#9- Michigan
#10- Notre Dame

Everyone who keeps saying Texas owns the state needs to consider--things are a'changing in the Lone Star state. A&M is gaining loads of ground right now with JFF and now being a member of SEC. OU still takes its share of talent out of Texas and while for quite some time it HAS been UT and OU being the big2 to claim their loot, the lofty ranking of the Longhorns is on a slippery slope unless some changes take place out there. A&M is making some serious noise over there.
Yeah, they are still the most profitable but if their program keeps having the hiccups as of recently--wouldn't surprise me to see them begin to lose their stanglehold on that elite status they have had for so long.

I remember that poll. Isn't the top job by definition the one that most coaches would want? I think it is, so I put UF #1 until another poll shows otherwise.
But, I would agree with UF, Texas and USC being the long-term top 3 programs based on them being the leading schools in the top 3 talent-producing states.
Why is UGA a Sleeping Giant? Does the talent produced in Georgia rival that of Florida? Or, is there some other factor I'm not aware of?
