guards seem to be soft...
in close games. They have played scared, which is strange when you have 2 seniors. Rosario seems not to want the ball. As gritty as Wilbekin is, he's not a go to guy at the end of a game and KB and MR just don't seem to have confidence. they wilted over the last 5 minutes. Missed wide open shots, didn't make any hussle plays etc. This is concerning as we have lost every close game this year. When we are at a neutral site or on the road vs a good team, we have not won. Not a good sign for the tourney. Not sure we have the mental toughness to will a win in a tough game and you need that in the tourney.

They actually made some big shots when things got tight 2night. KBs and1, Rosarios' jumper, Wilbys' 3. JJust a bad ending sequence and alot of missed freethrows by the team.

I don't think they're soft, I think they all have some holes - ball handling - and a fired up other team can play them well. And I agree with another post that this team is a team but we need a "go-to" guy in close games and he just isn't there.

I thought they were getting better this year but the deficiencies are still apparent. Our guards have trouble and lack the confidence to beat the guy in front of them off the dribble without multiple high ball screens. When the opponent defends the high ball screen well, they don't know what to do but to swing the ball around the perimeter.

You can fault Boynton and Rosario for a lot of things, but not wanting the ball in their hands at the end of the game isn't one of them.

I am not sure why the team decided to take 33 3-pointers either after seeing they clearly weren't falling.

Missing shots is not an indication of being soft. Nothing soft about this team.

Agree nothing soft in their makeup. Just no aggressive, attack the basket mentality either. 33 3s when they aren't falling and refs are calling a lot of blocking (ironically not on rosario's one drive)

I'd like Wilbekin or Rosario to have the ball at the end of the game. If not those two, draw up a play for a catch and shoot for Murph. Wilbekin drives the ball with the best of them, and is a great passer. Rosario is our best finisher close to the basket.

I could not disagree more with the premise of this post.

My guess is that Boynton, Rosario and Wilbekin, all of whom have been averaging roughly 32 minutes or more per game, are a bit worn down at the end of games this far into a very long season.
When you are worn, the lactic acid makes it difficult to make hustle plays or quick plays, or even leap properly when taking shots.
Tournaments are a different story, and hopefully this will be an 8-man rotation by then, rather than the current 7.

With the defense our guards are playing, "soft" is not a term that comes to mind. Seems a bit unjustified.

Soft is getting you rear end crushed by 30 and giving up. That is my definition of soft.
This team is not soft.

Yeah, I guess the OP missed all the other threads where posters complained about Boynton being too aggressive.
BTW, the second to last three Boynton took was in no way "contested". He was wide open on that one, but just didn't shoot the ball well (long and right). The last contested three KB took was much closer to being on target - good distance, but was just a tad too far left.
It was his three at just under the 4-minute mark that should have gone down - it was half way in and crawled back out Such is life for a shooter/scorer.

We are about as far from being a soft team as you can get....this is one of the toughest UF teams in history....
We had a bad game, blew a big lead, and lost to a good team at their place (where they were winning by average of 20+ pts this season), it happens,...they are like 82-4 in their last 86 at home
Do we have some things that need fixing? Of course, but I just don't get all the overreacting and doom and gloom posts
