We are the worst fan base about blaming the ref's for a loss. Good teams overcome officiating. Honestly as far as I could see, quite a few calls and touch fouls went our way. Bottom line, we shot ourselves out of the game from the three point line. I find myself repeating it year after year. Live by the three, die by the three. Not to mention we couldn't hit a dang free throw. Chalk this one up as a loss due to the team. It was not because of the refs!

The officiating was bad- no doubt- for all the reasons mentioned.

And I was shocked the Mizzou players did not receive a T. They showed major disrespect to the refs. What a contrast to our players.

I thought a player slamming the ball down ALWAYS got a T- but different rules for the home team I guess. It's no wonder Mizzou has that great home record- the officiating can overcome a lot.

All that said- the guys really need to work on hitting FT. Missing 3 front ends in a row is inexcusable.

Terrible officiating, but it wasn't exactly one-sided and it didn't cost us the game.

Yep - we had some bad calls against us but Mizzou arguably had even worse calls. In all it evened out - both teams had 15 PFs. What lost this game was poor shooting, missed FT's, and the inability to get the ball inside.

The refs were so horrible as to be incompetent, but both teams were on the wrong end of their calls.

To blame the refs for this loss is to avoid facing the real problems facing this team.

The travelling call on PY was a dagger, but I actually thought Missouri was getting the raw end of the deal for most of the night. A couple of phantom calls where they "fouled" PY and MR in the key with little-to-no contact, plus Murphy clearly hacked one of their guys laying in a ball with no call.

While Missouri was heating up, we got a lot of whistles in our favor that really helped us stem the tide by calming the crowd down and putting us on the line. Unfortunately we just didnt hit any of those 1-and-1s.

Here's one thing I've always wondered about basketball officiating: Why is it ok for refs in basketball to demonstrably make calls and get into the emotion/momentum of the game and feed into the crowd? Think of a guy driving strong to the hoop for a layup only for the ref to practically jump out to mid-court with multiple blows of the whistle, pausing dramatically to get all eyes on him then making a forceful charge call while the crowd goes nuts.

Everyone knows that the home team always get favorable calls, but why would the powers that be allow refs to even appear so blatantly biased/invested/emotionally caught up in the game?

Think of Driskel's long TD pass against USC that was called back. Could you imagine if the referee made the holding call in any kind of manner other than robotic?

You see it in baseball as well. Its just unbelievable to me that you wouldnt instruct your officials to be completely emotionless.

Did anyone else notice the Missouri player that had Murphy in a full Nelson for about five seconds when he was trying to go for a rebound?

The only foul that really got me ticked last night was the traveling call on Young. That one was worse than bad.

If we make that 3 at the end, this same thread is on MIzzou's board.

In fact, this thread is on half of the boards of teams who played last night.. lol.

Shortly thereafter they made the same call on Mizzou.

I think the announcers said that is an automatic travel call when you hit the ground with ball in hand.

Refs had nothing to do with this loss. It's on our guys. Make your free throws, we win. Plain and simple.

Key words there.

In fact, the announcers didn't even acknowledge what a horrible call it was on Young even while showing repeated replays. They just kept going on and on about the size of PY's shoulders or something else just as stupid. That is a pet peeve of mine when announcers completely gloss over bad calls. They are so quick to chime in on what a great job refs do when they make the right call or get together on a tough decision, but sometimes I think they're scared to really get on them about bad calls.

Best I remember he didn't have the ball when he hit the floor. He picked it up after he was down. This is done routinely when players are scrambling for the ball while on the court.

If we get that call I think it was a 5 pt game with the momentum, instead they get the ball and take a 3. Ballgame. I'm sick of these refs and having absolutely no accountability. When does it stop?

Same story.. When the Gators lose it's the refs. Nothing to do with our ineptness late or giving the other guy credit. You and borntobeagator are really poor losers.

It's OK to criticize the officiating, but if you think that's the main reason we lost then you need to get your head out of your azz.

I agree. I think that the officiating was bad, but when you look at the game as a whole, I would estimate that they slightly favored UF after you add it all up.
