Oh, I would suspect that Leak's three touchdown passes had a little more to do with the win than Tebow's 1-yard run. The chances of Tebow throwing three TD passes against Tennessee in 2006 was far less likely than Deshawn Wynn getting that 4th and 1, IMO.
The 2006 team was Leak's team. Tebow contributed, as did the other players (we don't go to Arizona if Wondy St. Pierre didn't recover that TD in the endzone against Arkansas), but Tim was a role player that year. In 2008, it was Tim's team, and he went all the way.

Not exactly so. Tim had a strong relationship with Larry Fedora, who recruited him heavily when Tim was in high school. Tim credited Fedora for steering him to Florida.

I do remember Tim crediting Fedora. That Larry was still pushing him to UF even after he left. I was too absolute in my post but Tim was UF's to lose. People are giving Meyer too much credit for the sake of winning a message board debate.

It doesnt matter now, but back then...Even Urban knows...Tebow almost went Crimson:

It looked like Tebow was heading to Alabama.
"I'd say we were behind most of the time in the recruiting effort," Meyer said.
Despite his deep love for the Gators, Tebow became enamored with Alabama football before and during his senior season at Nease High School. He developed a close personal relationship with Shula, also a man of strong faith, and a trip to Tuscaloosa for the 2005 UF-Alabama game nearly sold Tebow on the Tide.
At the game, thousands of Crimson Tide fans chanted his name as he walked the sidelines.
Alabama felt like home, Tebow said.
"It was cool," he said. "It was something that kind of takes your breath away, at least it did mine.
....
Two months later, Tebow was ready to make a decision between the Gators and Tide. A Dec. 13 news conference was scheduled at Nease, with ESPN set to televise it.
On the eve of the big announcement, Shula spent the entire day with Tebow and his family.
Meyer was convinced Tebow was going to Alabama.
The day before the announcement, Meyer and defensive line coach Greg Mattison were in Pennsylvania recruiting. Meyer said he was receiving regular updates on Shula's visit from Nease coach Craig Howard. In the meantime, Meyer said he was going over Plan B to sign another quarterback.
"I had convinced myself that, ‘If we lose him, we'll be OK,' " Meyer said. "(Mattison) looked at me and said, ‘Do you realize if we don't get him it will set the program back 10 years.' I said, ‘Shut up.' But he was right. That's how important it was."
On decision day, Tebow spent the morning alone by a small lake on the Tebow family's farm to search his heart for an answer. He found one. His heart told him Florida, his first love.
