How about Tebow to the Titans? I think he could do very well in Nashville.

Why not? I think he would fare better there than NY. He needs to get a break somewhere and I think the fans there would appreciate him better than NY. Is Locker exciting the fans in Tennessee?

Titans could actually be an option but its not about exciting the fans with bringing in Tebow. Its about the organization. Does an organization believe in Tebow from the owner down to the coaches.

I started following the Jets because of Tebow. I noted early on that their OL was terrible. I'm not a big NFL guy but if your OL stinks your offense will stink.

Ditto Philadelphia and to a lesser degree Dallas. Why the national NFL media overlooks that...

Tebow should go to the Redskins and offer to play for a backup QB salary.

They run a scheme with RGIII that would be a perfect fit for Tebow as backup. He will end up starting probably 2-4 games for them over the course of the season because Griffin WILL get hurt and be unable to start.

In the meantime he will actually be practicing and playing for a coach, Mike Shanahan, who KNOWS how to develop a passer. After 2-3 years under Shanahan, we would all know if he has NFL ability or not.

I love Tebow, but in defense of his critics, he has never been coached in how to be a passer. Lord knows that Meyer sure didn't know how to do it. Meyer's 1 receiver 10-15 yards and 2-3 others running 5 yard button hooks is not a passing game. It is designed for the qb to run and not much else. Fox was a defensive minded coach, and Ryan is an idiot.

I heard Loeffler did try to work with Tebow's passing at some points. However, the fact that Tebow could overwhelm opponents rendered that a very secondary issue and they decided to leave well enough alone. I wouldn't argue that decision if it is accurate.

Tebow has worked very hard on his mechanics ever since with the best coaching he can find. No one works harder.

His main issue is, I think, reading NFL defenses and making great decisions at NFL speed. The Jets OL is awful which makes that nearly impossible.

Tebow needs to go to a team with a solid OL and a commitment to running the ball. My choice is Pittsburgh. Back up Big Ben, emulate his style of extending plays and making big throws as defenses break down, etc. Ben gets hurt every year so Tebow will get meaningful PT and if he succeeds will establish himself in the league. And not as a gimmick, but as a very dangerous weapon who finds a way to win.

I agree. I don't think his actual passing ability is his weakness. It's reading defenses, going through progressions, and other decisions at NFL speed. That should get better with game and practice experience. I also agree that Pittsburgh would be a great place for him.

Pittsburgh would be good or even Washington. Somewhere where the starter is getting old and/or injury prone. I like RGIII but he won't last long unless he drastically limits his running.

I agree that it is not his mechanics. And that is not what I was referring to as being coached in how to be a passer. I was referring to reading defenses, and running through the progressions of who should be open with that given coverage. If his progressions and his decisions were better the mechanics would be overlooked.

In Meyer's system, if the primary isn't open, the next option is the run. Because the routes were mostly short, this decision was made fairly early in the play. This does not teach the QB to be a passer. To be a successful passer in the NFL, the QB needs to read the coverage and run through the progressions quickly.

Shanahan, on the other hand, has proven an ability to teach this to his QBs. He also is smart enough to change his "system" to fit the talent that he has with RGIII. This is another Meyer shortcoming as he couldn't adapt and tried to have Chris Leak and John Brantley run the spread option.

^ No argument here. Shanahan is superb at coaching QBs. It would be ironic if he (who won with Elway) wound up being the catalyst for Tebow's NFL success.

And they beat Denver in the Super Bowl.

I can dream...can't I?

You'll need a NYC example to counter his point. His complaint was specific to that area.

Washington's backup QB (Cousins) was a rookie last year and he was able to win games for them. I don't see them as an option for Tim. Pittsburgh on the other hand has a starter that's been in the league for going on 10 years, a backup that's been in the league for going on 11 years and a 3rd stringer going on his 16th year. Also I think Big Ben is Tim's closest match in the NFL.

Fox was a defensive minded coach, and Ryan is an idiot.
Meyer's job wasn't to prepare players for the NFL, it was to win games for Florida. He figured - and probably rightly so - that Florida would win more games by leaving Tim's mechanics alone than by messing with them.

As for other coaches, I don't remember names but I remember reading that Tim went to a variety of different camps/coaches to improve his mechanics and also that Elway and other Broncos worked quite a lot with him.

Tim's big mistake was believing the Jets when they told him he'd have a role to play as a QB in their offense. His big problem is that while he's won games as a QB in the NFL he hasn't looked consistently good as a passing QB. He's had moments but in general he hasn't shown that he can read defenses and get rid of the ball quickly to the right receiver. And he also has a problem (through no fault of his own) by being a carnival sideshow wherever he goes and most teams don't want that kind of distraction.

I hope he gets picked up by some NFL team when he leaves the Jets but I'm not holding my breath.

Kurt Warner was bashed beyond measure too when he was a Giant before he carried the Cardinals to the SuperBowl. It is discrimination. You have to live in this area to understand it. This area is HYPER POLITICAL. Everything is about politics here, especially in NJ (where the Jets play) and NY.
