Apple devices carrier advice.
I'm getting a iPhone 5 thru Verizon. My iPad is a AT$T device.
Should I switch my iPad(I'd have to sell it) to Verizon as well?
If I were to keep both as they are now will I have any problems syncing the 2 devices
since they are on different providers?
To all iPhone 5 users, is 16Gb sufficient?
What are your favorite apps for both devices?
Any advice is most welcomed.

You would probably save some money having the iPad on the Verizon account because they have data sharing plans. Not sure if it would be worth it to sell and buy a new one though?
Providers won't make a difference in syncing them.
16GBs is plenty if you aren't putting your music library on it. If you are, then it depends how much music you have.
My family uses some of the following apps on our computers, phones, and iPad:
Wunderlist - It's a to-do list app
Dropbox - Share files by syncing all files inside Dropbox between all devices
Evernote - Note-taking app that syncs between all devices

My iphone is on Sprint, and my ipad is on ATT. No issue whatsoever on synching. As for memory, the one problem with iphones/iPads is thaty you cannot add more memory. It may cost more now, but at least you know that you'll have it if you need it. On the other hand, you can also purchase cloud memory from Apple (which you can access from either device at any time when you have wireless connectivity), so it really may not make much of a difference.

Just use your Iphone5 on Verizon as a hotspot and you can run any ipad you want. You dont need to get an ipad with wireless if you have an iphone, unless you don't carry your phone with you.

Not with Verizon. I just switched to them from AT&T. No extra charge for hot spot.

I had unlimited data with AT&T and gave it up for Verizon. They dont offer unlimited data any longer, so if you sign up for a plan now you will get tethering as part of your deal. You can not have tethering with unlimited data.
By the way, I am SO much happier with Verizon. I was with AT&T for 12 years and they continued to get worse ever year. I could not get a signal in most of Chicago with AT&T and tons of dropped calls. Verizon gives me a signal everywhere and I have only had 2 dropped calls in the 2 months I have had them. I can live with that.

Forgive my ignorance, but exactly what is 'tethering'?

"Tethering" is a way of using your iPhone as a WiFi Router so you always have WiFi and never have to pay those ridiculous charges for the service in airports, hotels, restaurants, etc. In essence your iPhone becomes your own "hot spot" for WiFi access for your tablet or notebook computers.
Just to make sure the main point is made.... there is no problem synching Apple devices on different carriers like AT&T or Verizon. Apple devices synch either off a home device, your desktop computer for instance, or iCloud and they both use iTunes to do so.

Great advice all, thanks.
I'm glad to have dropped AT&T for Verizon as well!
