Glad this weekend that there was no roof at the Mac
The Saturday and Sunday games against Duke were played in very pleasant February weather, but both days were strong evidence against a roof at the Mac.
The 4:00 game on Saturday began with a good chunk of the central grandstands in the shade of the press box. I knew that would be true, so I dressed warmly. Sunday's game was bright and warm in the sun, but Duke's coach approaches the game differently from Sully- very slowly.
As the game stretched past three hours, the press box shade began to cover sections C and D and it felt as is someone had turned on the A/C. Most of the stands still had plenty of sunshine, and they were better off for it. Had they spent the entire afternoon in the shade, they would have been well chilled.
It will be much warmer in April and May when the Gators have one game at 4:00 and two at 1:00, but the great majority of hot weather games are evening games. I like it that way.
