Can't fall in love with the three
It was great that UF hit so many 3s at AU today. They naturally collapsed on UF today as that worked well up there two years ago.
UAR beat UF by getting in their grills. After UF's shooting today, I would expect everyone to try the UAR strategy against UF. That means particularly early in the game getting the ball INSIDE to Young, Prather and Murphy. Yes Murphy needs to be on the block some. Then inside touches can lead to some open threes, but this team needs to be prepared to build leads 2 points at a time.

Today was strange in the sense that Auburn never adjusted, even though we continued to shoot an ungodly number of open threes.
I thought Patric worked hard, but they were packed in on him and Murph was used at the top of the key to open guys up for shots. The strategey worked to perfection and Barbee didn't adjust one bit to it.

Can't be upset about the number of 3s we took today, because that's what was open. AU's plan was to take away the interior. They did, and they paid for it.
Very reminiscent of our two national champion teams. You had to pick your poison. Do you want us to beat you inside or outside?

The threes were open and they were falling.

They were playing zone, what else should we have done? And Arkansas beat us because they played out of their minds. We missed a ton of easy shots against them. Cant wait to blow their doors off this Saturday in the Swamp.

We took what the gave us. It would be insane to force the ball inside when they are overplaying us in the paint. The team has done a great job all year exploiting what the defense has given us.

Amen to that. I kept waiting for Auburn to extend their defense and try to take them away from us, so we could get the ball inside to Patric.
Never happened.

It never happened because they expected us to stop hitting from outside. They called our bluff and lost. Most times, teams hitting from way out early get cold late.

What????
I didn't criticize a single shot today. I merely said that UF can't fall in love with the 3 from here on out.
Certainly if UMo decides AU was just unlucky and packs into a zone betting on Boynton, Frazier, Murphy, Rosario and Wilbekin will all be cold from the arc, then UF will have to take open 3s. UF just can not fall in love with the arc and fail to go inside or still look for the 3 when the opponent mans up close on defense.

In the post-game interview Billy was talking about how he emphasizes to the team different players will have different results depending on how the game goes. I gather from what he is saying that these guys are experienced enough to recognize what the other team is giving you and to exploit it. Of course there will always be those times when the shots are just not falling no matter what is open. In those situations they really have to play solid defense to stay in the game.

Arky would have beaten %95 of the teams out there the way they shot.

Don't worry about Arky. We're gonna get payback in the O-Dome.

All of them were open pretty much. When you are a Division 1 basketball player, especially if you have the talent that our shooters do, you need to take those shots because even on a bad day you're still going to make a good percentage of those.

Probably because that was the only thing they could come up with to try and compete against us.

Nah...Arky shot well against us because we didn't bother to show up. Left 'em wide open, which was uncharacteristic for us.
