By the way. Off topic slightly, But Chris Leak was the MVP QB of the NCG...Not Tebow or Harvin....Now continue.

I can't believe how some Gator fans can totally slight Chris Leak, who not only led the Gators to a national championship, but also as a true freshman led the Gators to three of the greatest upsets in school history -- three ranked teams, three weeks in a row, away from home.

Leak is one of the most under-appreciated Gator football players. When he signed to play for Zook and the Gators, he said he was going to Gainesville to win a national championship -- he did it, too.

You must have forgotten his Freshman year. He couldn't do any kind of read, just tucked and ran. He was much better last year but still locked on his primary target and didn't run through his progressions!

Selectively disregarding stats again. Awesome.

No, one great year didn't make him a hot commodity. He was already on teams' radars before the undefeated season. Hell, he was named national coach of the year for the year prior. What made him a hot commodity was his track record of turning around programs. I notice you took the time to look up and cite the 8-3, and 10-2 records but you left out the proceeding seasons.

His last season was the worst Florida season I ever witnessed and I've been a fan since 1980.

Really? You don't even have to go back far to remember the Zook years...

His final recruiting class has for the most part been a failure. His first season at OSU was successful in terms of wins and losses but even weaker teams like Purdue and Cal pushed OSU to the limit.

You can thank that class for our nice season this past year...

As a fan of both coaches while at UF...and a Spurrier guy even today...Its only fair to ask how "leaving the cupboard bare" as Spurrier himself admitted...and being broken, as unnamed sources claim Meyer did is much different? I know they left differently...thus my affection for steve is unblemished, but they both left the program in similar condition according to the alleged comments of said coaches.

Wes' point, I believe, was that it seems to be all one, or all the other. I think he was being facetious. I believe he was lamenting the fact that there seems to be no middle ground on the argument.

So you are saying that Tebow wasn't an important contributor in 06? 08 as well?

He still shows very little ability to read defenses but you think that Meyer could work magic with his system? You truly have forgotten that Tebow came in throwing well as a starter once Leak graduated. he did have the benefit of a season to develop as well.

Yeah well sorry, a national title game doesn't compare to a consolation game against Cincy. It wouldn't have made much of a diffference anyway, maybe 1 point!

You mean that class minus the 10 high ranked recruits that crapped out as usual under Meyers system. Spurrier was right, Meyer doesn't develop players very well.
