Totally agree. Then remember too that Billy is truly one of the great coaches in college basketball. 15 straight 20 win seasons! As Vitale says, "Are you kidding me!!"
I came to Gainesville and started working for UF in '85. I remember going to games back then. As a UW-Madison alumn, I couldn't believe how bad the basketball was at UF. Billy made UF a basketball a conference power, then a regional power and finally a national power through his coaching skill, flash, tenacity and ability to adjust to changing teams.
I don't think the majority of our fans really understand what he has done for UF. So much is taken for granted these days. In basketball, Indiana was Indiana before Knight; Syracuse was Syracuse before Boeheim; Duke was Duke before Krzyzewski, but UF was virtually non-existant before Billy.
Man, I hope he stays and I think he will 'til Jeremy leaves. After that, ........?
