He told the Florida staff in the mourning he was going to UF. That info was then sent to a few reporters and announce. A few hours later he announced he was going to LSU. It seems like nobody really knows if the leak was the reason for the switch or he just changed his mind. It is not a big deal for either school he wont be ready to contribute for a few years.

It stretches the bounds of believability to think a "leak" caused him to flip to LSU. There are many more likely theories, such as last minute "incentives" that would better explain the flip. But even those aren't likely, IMO. Think it's just the kid being immature and indecisive.
But yes, I'm not bothered we didn't get him either. He didn't strike me as a guy with special abilities and can now spend the next four years getting obliterated by the next mammoth Bama LT and our own DJ Humphries.
Plus, there are several, higher quality DE/BUCK types on UF's board in the class of 2014.

We'll see. Miles and Chavis have an excellent track record of evaluating and recruiting D-linemen.

We don't need him to start, but I would expect him to get some PT as a true freshman.

if Bower is getting PT as a freshmen then your Dline must not be in very good condition he would be an automatic redshirt at Florida

Maybe, or perhaps LSU's evaluation is different than yours.
Time will tell which evaluation is correct.

I take it both LSU and UF's recruitment of TB were under the radar. I would love to have had him commit to us because it would have made NSD more exciting and CWM look like a real closer. But I still have this suspicion he's not a top player when all is said and done.
AZ, any particular reason you believe he doesn't contribute right away? Seems like he has the size.

CWM looks like a closer he signed one of the best classes in the country that is how you close.
At Florida he would be redshirting. He is a BUCK/SDDE that is not that quick off the ball and he is not an elite pass rusher. Bower also needs to work on using his hands. Bower is going to need to gain weight and get stronger to be able to get to the passer since he is not super quick.

Miles did not specifically say that he expects any particular player to play as a true freshman, he, like every other coach, talks in coach-speak about his hope that some of the freshmen come in ready to go and earn some early PT. Most LSU fans expect a number of the freshmen DL to get early PT due to the numbers of DL signed, the history of Chavis rotating a lot of players, and the need to build depth for 2013 and beyond.
Regarding what Bower would or would not do at UF, neither you, nor anyone else can truly say how early he would play. You are, at best, making an educated guess.

Well who do the fans say will come in and play early? I can see some of your freshmen playing early as well. But if you guys are expecting Bower to be in your rotation I guess you are also expecting 2013 to be a long season

Agree with this.
I don't think there's anything wrong with folks thinking Bower is a decent player. And one that will probably provide depth to the D-line roster. But he's no Mingo or any other All-SEC type DE that LSU has produced over the last decade.
