Its definitely the most infamous but not the best. Because there isn't really another staple, its the one most fans flock to first. They usually end up migrating to a smaller board. Truebluekentucky is probably the best of the small ones right now. Scout and 24/7 aren't as great but I'm not that familiar with them. If I'm not mistaken, I think Jeff is active over at truebluekentucky.
I think the go-to site for UK is kentuckysportsradio.com. My only gripe is that they don't have message boards, as its a blog, and the only communication from fans is through comment sections.
I agree with the nurse. If you have a game in YOUR coliseum, you should be prepared with paramedics ready to do whatever is necessary to eliminate serious problems. I see it even as a liability thing. What the heck! Especially, in basketball, if the other team has a player down, your trainer should ask what he can do to help,,,,,LIke CALL the paramedic, etc. Seems common sense and courtesy to me. I also see the expense, but goodness, your talking about multi-million dollar careers here. If MY young'un was hurt in a place like this I'd want the best immediate reaction care available. EVEN if you have a hospital on campus, have a means to get them off the court, into a evac vehicle and outa there immediately. Of course, the trainer may have wanted some time to eval himself so I can't say much more because I don't know particulars. All of this may have been available.
brolowe, did you not read the posts which stated that the TEAM TRAINERS/DR are responsible for deciding how their injured player is handled? The UF staff offered their assistance but were told their help was not wanted/needed. EMTS and equipment for players removal is available for each game but they cannot do anything unless requested by the staff of injured player!
Obviously UK did not want any outside assistance. As stated in another post the UF AD addressed this today when he just happened to be scheduled on a radio show. A caller asked why we didn't have stretchers or cart available for players removal from court. Answer was we have EMTS & equipment at every game but you don't give assistance if it's not requested or wanted! Seems pretty simple.
Par for the course for UK. I was at the Tebow concussion game and 1/2 the stadium was cheering him being injured.

That is true. However I was talking about the first 20-30 secs after the play when they saw he was hurt. And there was a difference in that they were cheering because they saw he was hurt and the initial roar that went with cheering on the big hit. Once it looked as serious as it was most of the stadium was quiet. Not where I was sitting though, I was in the UK student section unfortunately.

I did hear the same thing from others who sat near the student section, but I was far enough away from them that I didn't heat it.
You also have to remember that this is a fan base that stormed the field and tore down a goal post after losing to LSU. Sometimes it takes them a while to understand what actually happens on the field.

That forum reminds me of a the kind of site you would have if you gave a bunch of people in a loony bin computers and memberships. No doubt they get a huge amount of hits but trying to wade through all of those threads is an exercise in futility. Doesn't mean they don't have good members but they sure do have a bunch of kids, or something, that post on there.
I was waiting to see how the fans would react and all I heard were cheers when he walked off. Maybe it was different if you were at the game.
It might have something to do with Noel's behavior during the game. He twice took cheap elbow shots at Murphy and Prather and he grabbed Boynton and swung him around.
Like I said in the thread that got closed, I never root for injuries and I hope he is okay, but he was playing on the dirty side last night and that probably didn't sit well with the fans.
Still, they should never cheer for an injury, so if they did, that is classless.

KAINTUCK fans are butt hurt. Some of us get it wrong also.
It's in the rules too.....the opposing team is not allowed to approach or deliver care unless asked by the other team's coach or medical staff.

Good grief you guys. Its like, after the win last night many of you have become disrespect detectives... Espn didn't give Uf enough props, Noel's injury has gotten too much attention, an 11 yr old on catspause said this, a 14 yr old said that...
The link I posted was started simply to rip us and many in the thread did. I also fairly pointed out that not everyone shared their view. Not sure what board you were on. And I was the first defend ESPN for covering it correctly.

Second, I think you're remembering the wrong play. This happened when Rosario intercepted a pass intended for Noel near half court, and took off for an open layup. It was a hustle play and Noel came down funny from the jump, which was the cause of the injury (not from hitting the backstop, as has been mentioned by some). Rosario had what appeared to be a clean fast break and in that scenario, the coaches would instruct him to take that shot every time as opposed to hesitating and looking for a better option (i.e., "overthinking," like Prather and Parsons and many others had a problem with early, or "showboating" which will send you to the bench if your pass off the backboard doesn't get dunked by the teammate you think is trailing you).
Applying that logic, you could just as easily say that if Noel didn't try to chase down a fast break that many players would concede as out of reach "none of this would have happened," and a biomedical engineer might conclude that Noel's arm getting hung up on Rosario's head may have been what threw his body out of biomechanical alignment upon landing from the jump (straight leg plant while landing off balance is the leading cause of this sports injury). But same thing as above: every coach is going to instruct you to try to make the hustle play and prevent the bucket if you can.
To suggest culpability on Rosario's part (or any Gator player) for this injury is absolutely wrong and unfair to him. Both players were playing very hard and doing exactly what they were coached to do when this total accident occurred.

Well I have a totally different position. REM is correct that Rupps Rafters is probably the most used basketball board around and because of the volume it is hard to keep track of the threads you are interested. Rival does not have the Scout function that gives a little check if you have posted on a thread. That is a fantastic function that Scout should really be proud of and that function alone would improve RR very much.
This is where I differ from REM.
My view is that Rupps Rafters is the best message board around simply because of its size and the vast subject areas. For 11 years I have been a premium member of that board "House of Blue". The HOB is far more constrained by folks who are willing to pay and the volume is a small fraction of the numbers on the free board. So after a UK loss I go to the HOB to avoid all the passers by and flamers on RR, but for the most part if a subject is not on RR then it is not worth looking for.
Rupps Rafters is a free board and the mods basically allows a lot of latititude before they whack you. In fact if you get banned from Rupps Rafters you have basically gone a long way off the reservation. So because of this you end up with a bunch of kids posting the most outrageous things on earth and a bunch of flamers and drive bys starting a flame war just to get the boozos responding.
But back to the message board concept: I have been with Rupps Rafters and its ancestors, i.e. The Cats Pause and ones before that for a very long time. In fact I have not changed my password over there for nearly 14 years. You have to wade through a bunch of stuff but if it touches UK basketball it will be there. A casual UK fan will not enjoy it much I suppose, but it is the holy grail of Kentucky basketball.
On Nuttin' but Net the mods control things a lot closer and the volume is "friendly". I like Florida basketball and that I why I continue to be on NBN. My only problem is that I defend attacks on UK. I shouldn't but I do. But NBN is a very nice place to follow Florida basketball.
