Turtle story is just another example of his weirdness. He truly is one weird individual. When he was our weirdo, we had to look the other way.

Agreed. This story pretty much sums up the guy to me. Just an odd dude who can get results on a football field.
I got his autograph and a picture of him with my son prior to the 2008 championship year at the Meet the Gators event at the Odome. Guy didn't say two words to my boy, nor did he show any interest in being at the event at all. He's definitely not the Dos Equis guy.

But the haters can't stop bashing because they know Meyer is superior to Spurrier. Can Spurrier boast of four (Alex Smith, Tebow, Cam Newon and Braxton Miller) first-round picks at QB? Meyer can do that. Meyer's offense has generated three first-round picks at wide receiver. It produced two All-pro tight ends. Meyer developed the greatest rookie offensive lineman of all time, in Mike Pouncey.
Spurrier didn't develop a top-5 pick like Haden. He certainly didn't win two national championships. Meyer brought home two SEC titles, produced a Heisman trophy winner, went undefeated against Tennessee. Georgia. Florida. State and Miami. Meyer won big games. By big margins. On big stages. Bowden owned Spurrier.
Meyer laid the foundation for the Florida way. There is no other. The success Meyer brought to the University of Florida was incomprehendable. Amazing. He showed Florida how to win the right way. He did it with class; yet won with arrogance. His speech after the Ole Miss game has been forever erectid in Gator history.

Because you can't have a thread about Meyer without comparing him to Spurrier. That's incomplete. That's like a stickup kid runnin' around without no heat.

Meyer is great until he is beaten by a far superior coach in a huge game, then he gets a tummy ache!!!

Yeah. There were no first-round picks on the defensive line, except Jarvis Moss. Steve Harris, RayMac and Joe Cohen were marginal talents, sculpted and crafted with care by Meyer's staff. Chad Jackson clearly proved to be a bust. Bubba Caldwell didn't play up to his recruiting ranking, and Meyer took two average CBs (Ryan Smif and Reggie Lewis) and turned them into first-day picks.
The offensive line was okay, I'll give you that. But look at how Earl Everett and Brandon Siler have played as pros. Meyer did a malicious job of getting that unit to go above and beyond. The fact that Meyer even won ten games in 2006 is a testament to his supeerior coaching.

Couple things, Meyer didn't go undefeated against our rivals. Off the top of my head I can recall losses to UGA (2007) and FSU (2010) and I'm sure Charlie Strong, who was on Zook's staff as well, had something to do with the development of defensive players...just a little. Zook wasn't a great X and O's guy but he was one hell of a recruiter. You don't win a title with a bare cupboard. Why do Spurrier, Zook and Muschamp get dragged into these Meyer love/hate fest??

It is totally unfair to compare Meyer and Spurrier, the two don't belong in the same sentence.
A better argument would be who left their university in a bigger disgrace, Blobby, Joe Pa, or Urban....

Two were forced to leave. One got scared and snuck out under his wife's petticoat.

I'm an Urban "apologist" apparently, but Steve Spurrier doesn't have to look over his shoulder for anybody when it comes to Gator legend.
As for your post...Wow. I'm speechless. Where to begin?
1. Urban did not develop Haden. Strong did. But I'll see your Haden and raise you a Kevin Carter, Gerard Warren and Fred Taylor...so whats your point?
2. When did Braxton Miller get drafted? ...and how can Urban claim Cam Newton?
3. Urban lost to FSU and UGA
4. Steve won 4 SEC Titles in a row.
5. Spurrier CRUSHED Bowden on the biggest stage of all. 52-20
6. incomprehendable is not a word.
7. Pretty sure that Timothy Tebow gave the speech after the Ole Miss game that is literally bronzed at the stadium.
8. As for wideouts, Hilliard, Anthony, Taylor went in the first round.. Caldwell, Green, Jacobs went in the second round. Hilliard and Anthony went in the 1st round of the SAME draft.

My friend, you're missing my points completely. Let me address each of yours:
1) My point? Meyer developed Percy, Tebow and Spikes. He won two national championships with the three of them.
2) A friend of mine has a friend who knows Miller's aunt. The word from Columbus is that he'll be a first-round pick. Also, Meyer recruited Cam. 'Nuff said.
3) It really depends on how you look at it. Meyer lost to FSU after he had thrown in the towel; the Georgia loss came when Tebow was injured. Neither was a legitimate loss. That's what I hold.
4) But both of Meyer's SEC titles resulted in national championships. 'Nuff said.
5) Spurrier had a losing rekord versus Bowden. Meyer never lost to him. How can you compare them?
6) That's just not true.
7) I'll let you believe that if you want, but I know what I saw wif my own two eyeballs. Meyer's speech sent that team on a tear.
I never said Steve had to look over his shoulder. I don't know where that came from. I was stating that Meyer was simply a legend. Legendary figures give legendary speeches.

I quit reading here.^
Cam barely played for Meyer, and Miller was already at tOSU when he got the dream job.

That "erectid" word bothers me...a little too much sexual imagery.... maybe "esophogealed" would work better in his case.
I thought Tebow gave that speach after the Ole Miss game?

One of the best posts ever. What made it wonderful was right in the middle of throwing out undeniable facts....out of the blue--a correct grammar explanation was tossed in, and then you picked up right you left off with more sports facts. Couldn't have done it any better.
Excellent my friend.
