Sure, but scoring 14 against Mizzo is just as bad.

"The 2010 offense was really good at times- if addazio had just commited to Reed we probably set up really well for 2011- 2010 had too many bad snaps and turnovers but in general moved the ball much better than this years team- both were better than 2011 though."
Reed is a great, great athlete but a QB he is not. Many times that season Burton, or someone else would have to help him with the formations and the plays. Brantley was the best option that year, as painful as it was sometimes to watch. If a switch was to be made, it should have been Pouncey back to guard.
IMO, Brantley's performance in 2010 and Tebow's struggles in the NFL only highlight the fact that Urban Meyer was a very, very poor developer of passers. One receiver going 15 yards downfield and 3-4 others running 5 yard button hooks is no passing game.
I would like to see Tebow sign on with the Redskins. He could back up RGIII in an offfense suited to his running skills while Shanahan could teach him how to be a passer.

why do people act like Urban only had Brantley and Tebow as QB's?
Urban put Tebow in a position to win games that is what he is supposed to do.

not in the spread option offense designed by meyer / adazzio. Brantley running the option against alabama in 2010 may be one of the dumbest strategies I've seen in sports in 15 years.

To me, the biggest sign of improvement had to do with how well we performed against the top teams. If you look at how we performed against the SEC + SWAC, you'll see a huge difference between 2010 and 2012 (even last year and 2012). Where we struggled last year is in dominating the weak teams. Looking at the overall stats doesn't reveal that.

I think you missed my point. My question is would SOS have recruited Tim to play QB? Maybe he would have. But at that point in time I don't think SOS had evolved to a spread option type QB. One hint would be if he recruited Tim to Carolina. He did recruit Ingle Martin, I believe, who was somewhat of a runner.
Of course, since you know Tim personally I would never argue with you about what he might have done, but I wonder if he would have gone to UF if he could not play QB.
It's all just speculation. All we really know is what really happened.

Just to follow-up with some numbers (re: 8 SEC + SWAC)
In 2010, our opponents had an average yards per play rank of 45 (giving up 5.23 yards per play). Only 3 opponents had a top 25 ranking there: Alabama (#10), LSU (#23), and SWAC (#25). We averaged 4.93 yards per game against all 9 teams and only had more yards per play than our opponents average against 2 teams (#39 Georgia, and #67 Kentucky).
In 2012, our opponents had an average yards per play rank of 36 (giving up 5.03 yards per play). 4 opponents had a top 20 ranking there: SWAC (#1), LSU (#7), South Carolina (#11), and Vanderbilt (#16). We averaged 5.21 yards per game against all 9 teams and had more yards per play than our opponents average against 4 teams (#1 SWAC, #16 Vanderbilt, #59 Kentucky, #100 Tennessee).

We had a full roster with the most winning class in our history, and juniors who sent many to the NFL. When they all left, our roster was bare. But many expected us to play like we had a full house.
Most of this in on fans who just never got it. If some of you had sent him prayers when his health was bad, instead of complaints, he may still be here.
But you hated on Addazio and Meyer, even with two crystal balls in our troply case.
He just had an undefeated season followed by a class ranked ahead of ours. You doubted him, still do, but the joke is on us.
How long will it be before you turn on the present staff?

By no means is this offense great, but it is/was capable of scoring enough. I remember UF getting the ball back late in the game against MSU and Meyer not even trying to stop the clock. UF just took their time on that FG drive. That was the game where I became convinced he had mailed it in.

Well put. The Meyer years with the exception of the last were probably the most fun for me to watch since I started watching Gator football back in the early 90's (just my opinion so no SOS slight meant at all.) I really felt bad for him. The HC job at UF may be the most stessful job in all of college football and I could understand it got to him. I'm greatful for his time here and wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future.

My take is that Meyer wanted to leave but "took one for the team" when he decided to come back for 2010. This held that recruiting class together which could have fallen apart. All the Meyer haters need to understand that if Meyer didn't change his mind we would not have signed Elam- IMHO our best player on the field last fall.
But did he "mail it in" in 2010? I believe he did. Per these boards he said in pre-season that he was happy he didn't have to face Dan Mullen again in 2010 (which obviously we did.) If he said that he must have been completely disengaged.
But I don't understand the hate and the abandonment issues that so many here have. He wanted to leave, came back to hold the class together, tried to do it half-way, and when that failed he left. It could have been done better I guess but if he had pulled out permanently in late 2009 as he wanted to then things would have been much worse.

I think that's the most logical explanation. He leaves in 2009 and I think people still hate him, though, for the same reasons they hate him today - he's one of the best and he didn't want to coach here anymore.

So then what coach is not a quitter? Don't all of them move on from jobs?

Unless a coach dies, by definition he's "quitting on his team."
There are three types of coaching exits we've had at Florida in the last 12 years, best analogized in terms of a relationship.
There's the girl that you dated since high school, was crazy hot but after years of mostly good times it's come time to move on. Because of your history, and the fact that you remain friendly, you wish that girl no harm. That's Spurrier.
There's the girl that one day you woke up, looked over and realized you've been operating on a years-long bout of beer goggles. You dump immediately. That's Zook.
There's the girl who dumps you after years of great times. She's insanely hot, a little crazy but all in all a lot of fun. One day she tells you she needs to be alone for a while. Because of how good your time together was, you wish her well. A year later she's on the arm of a millionaire male model, she lost 10 lbs and has a great boob job. That's Urban Meyer.

Your anecdotal stories are comical, but still miss the point.
One more thing: I hope you're not the type of guy that has picture/posters of coaches up on your bedroom walls.
