I give. If Boynton, Young, and Prather did not stay around to "develop," what did they stay for?
As for the game, I'll take our talent and experience over that of the kittens at this point. Hoping for a good, hard, serious, ass-kicking come Tuesday. . . w/o Willy Yegs.

not sure I could do that with a straight face.
oh well people are always going to try to get their little shots in no matter how uninformed they are.
the truth of the matter is that Florida has deep experience that I can only wish UK had right now. I'd love a couple juniors and seniors on this team (other than Mays). But the day I fault Cal for recruiting the best prep (and often NBA-ready) players in the country will be the day right after pigs fly and I'm not talking about that blow up pig at the old Pink Floyd concerts.

No offense, but you seem confused. In one sentence you denigrate UF players, and in the next take a jab about getting ones shots in. Hypocritical. Try not to be so typical.

Exactly...hypocritical...hence why I wish Jeff and REM were the only UK posters on this board...a UK fan accusing me of taking jabs whenever I get the chance? Hilarious....

Young could have gone pro last year if he wanted...he may not have been 1st round but he would have been drafted....Boynton could have declared last year as well and probably at the very worst gotten on with a team overseas....Prather is honestly a bit of a stretch but Rosario also I feel could have gone pro after last year...my point is that UF players tend to stick around and either graduate or at least develop their game...other examples would be the 04s, David Lee, Haslem...and look at them all now....they are killing it in the NBA.....
My overall point is that this year I feel we matchup with UK talent wise and have the experience to go with it...the only position I feel UK might have an edge is with Noel...

Big, BIG difference. All of UK's players pretty much have been projected FIRST round picks and it played out that way. The same way it probably would have played out if UF's players (Beal) had that opportunity. No need to act like they were being loyal by not going overseas or in late rounds.

I'm not gonna argue that, but I will argue that the UK poster was trying to be rude and denigrate the players on the UF roster. Not going to let that lie.

All Im saying is I like the type of players BD recruits and the way he runs the program...spin that how you would like...and no offense but I'm not gonna reword my post when only you and a UK fan took it the wrong way....

The disparity between the two teams this year is not what it was last year. They were in another galaxy last season and the fact that we were reasonably close in two of the three games said a lot. Instead of shrinking, our guys did rise to the challenge and left it on the floor.
Yes, Noel will be the most talented player on the floor tuesday night. But unlike last year, we are in good shape in terms of how we match up with them this season.
You can argue high school ratings all you want, but at this point in the season, I would take our team over their team. That may change, maybe the light turns on and they start playing as a team and doing what their coach wants them to do on a consistent basis. Then again, maybe not. The book will not be closed on them until they are on the losing end of a game in late March.

Gators have an advantage in rebounding margin (ranked 14th in the country vs. 40th for UK). That is a much more important stat than total rebounds per game, if you are really trying to determine which team rebounds better.
Gators also rank higher in scoring margin but you can go on pretending that ppg is a meaningful stat.

But other than those stats, the ones I mentioned, and some of the other posters have mentioned, it's pretty even....

If we play relentless defense we win. I dont expect UK to shoot 80% from the 3 like Arkansas did for quite a bit of the game or even neding at about 55% from the 3 when they averaged 25 for the rest of the year.

On paper and based on my smell test Florida will beat UK by 10+ at Gainesville. Yet if UK can hit a good percentage of free throws and take care of the ball then they have a chance to win. If the UK team that played Texas A&M twice shows up in Gainesville, Florida will win by 25.
It really doesn't matter because I am going to enjoy it an I still think that this UK team is on it way to having a fine season.

Couldn't even win 20 games that year. No wonder everyone (fans of other teams) loved them some Tubby.

Early onset?
How about December 20, 1988: Indiana 75, UK 52.

Just to sorta respond to everyone - no need to think I'm being hypocritical because I wasn't talking any smack about Florida players. It's a simple fact that the ones that were referred to did not stick around to develop , they stuck around because they weren't guaranteed to play in the nba if they left. Just like guys like UK players Wiltjer and Mays. That's not a slight in anyway, it's a simple fact.
And about the stats - I only posted those because somebody said you guys were better across the board. Guess I have a pet peeve about false statements like that. Especially when UK is easily the best shot-blocking team in the country. Wasn't really trying to prove anything with them because I know that UF is superior in most categories - I just picked some of the popular ones
And hey I'm on record as saying I think UF takes this one because you're home but I like UK in Rupp on senior day (yes we have a senior) assuming no injuries for us.
