Times would have to really be tough for Kiffy to throw Orgeron under the bus. He's about the only college coach I know who's as crooked as Kiffy.

Kiffy must really be in trouble. He is doing the usual coach routine of firing assistants before he gets the axe himself.

What's really funny is that USC averaged 5 yards per carry which was good for 3rd best in the PAC 12 yet they finished 11th in the PAC 12 in rushing attempts. And remember now...Lane is the guy who calls the plays on offense. So what does Lane do? He runs off the RB's coach.

I think Lane did this to open up a spot on the staff to hire his younger brother Chris away from Ole Miss. The Rebels just kicked butt in recruiting and little brother Chris is getting a lot of credit for that and some recruiting awards. You have to remember everything Lane does is with recruiting in mind. He hires guys he knows aren't good coaches (such as Orgeron) because they have good sales skills. The irony is they just signed 12 players and still have another year left when they can only sign 15. Their 3 deep depth chart will include some walk-ons in 2014.

I think if they get the right amount of EE's they could sign something around 20 next year but I could be wrong

USC hired the best recruiter they could who was dumb enough to take the job.
How about coaches who quit and move to another job the day after NSD?

Pat Haden should know by now who he has as a head coach and just sits by and watches as Kiffen throw3s another guy under the bus. The only thing lower the a snakes belly is Lane Kiffen...a failure everytime he's been a head coach. Haden is not doing his due dilligence!

Haden didn't hire Kiffin. It's smart to wait for the next coach after sanctions are over.

I agree. I have a feeling Haden is going to let Lame keep the cupboard stocked and ride out the sanctions, then replace him with his own guy when sanctions are coming to an end. This would be a bit of karma for Kiffy, since many of the violations that brought about the sanctions were under Kiffin on his prior stint as an assistant at USCw.

Don't think he will be a head coach but a school would be smart to hire him as a position coach or OC.

Wasn't he calling the offensive plays this past season? I mean the plays the offense ran, but they were pretty darned offensive, too. If so, I can't see any program beating down his door to hire him as OC, unless it's an OC without playcalling duties -- maybe Jeffbo Fisher would hire him.

Isn't it odd how he recruited 4 RB's, who obviously were recruited by or had alot of communication with, that coach. After they sign, he fires the guy. If they have brains at all they should see the light.

They only signed 2RB's one was already enrolled. Its not odd its how teams are playing the game now. Just like Bama's OL coach leaving the day after signing day and UGA's DC was going to interview for a job the day after signing day. Its unfair to the kids but these kids are just going to have to start committing to a school instead of a position coach.

The only school I could see hiring Kiffy would be a school that is in a similar position as USC. The guy can recruit! However, these recruits should start to catch onto his little antics and if he is not recruiting to a big time program, he might find himself in an unfamiliar position.
