2014 - Most Likely Candidates

So I put together a list of the names we will most likely hear over this next cycle. Consider this a mixture of a wish-list and a realistic chance. There's some guys on here, like McDermott, Raekwon, Kain Daub, who I believe we have very little chances with... but I added them because they are in our recruiting zone and you never know what could happen. There's also some guys on the list who would be considered bottom-tier players, but with this staff and how they grade kids, you never know which one will get an early offer - Travaris Dorsey, for example, has been to FNL (and plans to come to the next one) and if he shows some improvement from last year, then I think he has a shot.

Some observations - Lots of Tampa-area kids... this is a good thing, we do great there. Lot's of OL talent. There's quite a few Buck prospects as well... Lorenzo Carter is tops.

Delvin Purifoy is Loucheiz Purifoy's cousin who plays LB for Pensacola Catholic. He committed a few weeks ago to Florida State. I know Muschamp will recruit the kid hard disregarding the FSU commitment. He's a good player we should have a shot with if he comes to any of UF's summer camps. Loucheiz picked up his offer at FNL.

I think we had some other WRs higher on the board than James Clark. Look where that got us.

All I'm saying is UF should be recruiting this kid. Whomever is higher on the board is fine, but we're not going to get everyone we want (never do).

That got us one of the best WR classes in the nation. Clark wasnt on any major schools radar until the middle of his SR year. I think we only lose 1LB next year and its someone that probably wont even play much. They are going to have to be very stingy with the LB offers. I would assume a little communication is there with Purifoy though.

Isn't Muschamp recruiting RB Bo Scarborough out of Tuscaloosa, Alabama?

The 14 class is the time to look hard at the best RBs in Alabama that we wouldn't normally have any shot at. Bama will have 8 to 9 RBs on their roster heading into the 13 season. It's got to be one of the deepest and best RB stables in the history of college football. I don't know why Saban would have allowed as many RBs on his team as most teams have WRs, but he's got them. In any case, I hope we see some Alabama RBs being recruited too.

I mean he is looking at him but no matter what Bo says I will believe he is going to another school when it actually happens. Some people are telling Bo to play WR as well. Saban is about to process a few RB's. Why do you want to see some Bama RB's recruited when it is almost impossible to get them out of the state?

I didn't know they still made Alphabet soup. All kidding aside, by the time he starts getting "real" about his commitment to play college football he'll be watching the Gators kick the canes to the curb on national television.

He is making his rounds to different schools went to A & M and FSU recently. That being said LSU didnt take a RB this year and LSU RB coach and recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson went to Fourentte's high school back in the day.

Perhaps.

He's just torn between in-state schools. He also just started to get offers... so no clue what is going through his mind, at this point.

Give it a couple of months and we'll have a clearer picture. But as of now, it's a toss-up between us and Da U.

To me, he isn't as high as some of the other DT's on our board. And this is a year where I think we'll only take 2-3 DT's, total. Travonte Valentine is tops, and I am really glad we have him, but he is shaky on his commitment. It is really really important to hang on to Valentine.... above all else as far as the DL goes. There are 3 SUPERB DT's in state, We have Valentine, FSU has Demarcus Christmas, and Khairi Clark is uncommitted, but as far as I can tell, he is a UM lean.

Our best course of action is to recruit 1 more DT to go with Valentine and shut it down right there. Maybe that will help save Valentine. Khairi Clark should be our target, we can definitely pull him from UM-territory. Maybe at the end of the process pick up a JUCO DT or another prospect like Moten.

But I just don't see this class loading up at DT like we did this past NSD. I think we are pretty stable there and the 2 JUCO guys we got should give a little bit of room for the guys coming up to take their time and fit into the system.

What we need for 2014 along the DL is some top notch DE's and a Buck or 2. If we pulled both Da'Shawn Hand **AND** Lorenzo Carter, then we knocked it out of the stadium.

I think sooner or later Denzel Ware will be a Gator. FSU wanted him for WDE. I don't know where our staff would place him. He could play Buck, but there are better prospects out there (such as Carter). He has the build to play OLB, I am betting that's where we would put him. A very physical rusher behind the Buck, I could see that.

Overall though, one thing can surely be said. With the way this staff has been recruiting, especially this past NSD, and with what's on our table for 2014.... It's Great to be a Florida Gator.

Man it's all about connections these days. I like him a lot though, I hope they make him a priority.
Note: I know we took KT this year! But if Bama can take the top rb year after year so can we!
