Whew...wish Cody Larson was still around.
Rough depth at front court now. Murphy and Young are going to have to play a ton of minutes and avoid foul trouble. Changes our whole defensive dynamic with Will out.

I know some of you don't have tons of faith in him right now, but this is Prather's chance to step up.

Don't think faith in Prather has anything to do with it. What he brings to the court is not what the team depends on Yeguette for.

This is rough. Pretty much exactly what happened last year.
Good news is we were an elite 8 team last year with the same front court (Young, Murph, Prather).
The bad news is that we don't have an elite rebounding guard like Beal this year to help out with the loss.

Donovan needs to land a big for next years class. i am tired of being one inury away from disaster. we need to have more depth in the frontcourt.

Isn't this thread about Larson not being around? There are some things that coaches just can't plan on. Especially when it comes to big men, many very good teams are just an injury away from being in trouble. There aren't that many big bodies ready to contribute for top 25-type teams. Some years you'll have an embarrassment of riches (next year maybe). Not always like this though.

Have you looked at the 2013 class including transfers? We should have more front court depth than we've had in years.

WY missed a good bit of the end of last season, including the tourney, and it was not Larson who provided the much needed spells for Young and Murphy, it was Prather, the things Larson did last year can be done just as well by guys like Walker and Kurtz, honestly, raise your hand if you have seen more out of Kurtz this year in his mop up duty than you saw out of Larson last year - see that, that's my hand waving.

Even if Casey is playing good that still leaves us short of experienced players.

I don't doubt that Billy has some pretty straightforward objectives set up for Cody. The question is is he ready to meet them? And as Kenny Kadji shows, sometimes it isn't the original team that gets the best performance but sets up the next team with the reformed one.

Forget Cody Larson (who I really liked the potential I saw)
the guy we REALLY miss right now is Brad Beal!

Definitely. I love what he can bring to the floor, we just need his ankle to fully heal and for him to start getting his quickness/confidence back

Agree.
Despite some good offensive play most of the time, defense is the calling card of this team, and Yeguete is a huge part of what makes our defense so special this year.
If we get him back and ready to contribute by the NCAA Tourney, it will be a big boost for our chances.
For 2 years in a row now, I've considered Yeguete to be our "secret weapon"; a unique player who makes so many of those winning plays (that don't always show up in the box score) that can help get you through a tournament. I'd hate to see us lose our "secret weapon" for the 2nd year in a row

Prather would be fine if he weren't still coming back from his high ankle sprain. Reinjure his ankle and we'd be playing freshmen to replace Yeguete and Prather for the rest of the season.
Forget national championship, this team will be lucky to stay in contention in the SEC with Yeguete out and Prather hobbled.
Players that must step up:
1. Devon Walker
2. Both freshmen guards who have been lightly playing.
It looks like we'll be using a lot of 4 guard rotations to me. I don't see how we can have Young and Murphy on the floor near as much as we'd like and be successful. I don't like the idea of zoning and losing our aggressiveness. Play the bench, press, and run. That won't be what we will do, but that's what we should do.

I'm not upset at all. The dude was an embrrassment to the program. My family and I were in New Orleans when the gators were there for the elite eight and he was openly insulting us to our faces. I'm not a huge guy but he was in the elevator with us and started harping about how there was no way I was 18 cuz I look like a thirteen year old. And he was talking about my sister sexually. If he wasn't a foot taller than me I would hae said something... But I'm not mad or anything lol
