Trevon Young
Trevon reminds me of a little more athletic Demetree "Da Meat Hook" type player. I wish he would sign up for Boom's team, play te and Billy would give this guy a chance to provide physical help on the boards. I wish we could sub him in now. Instead of being injured, he could be our wrecking ball. We need some of this! Come on Billy and help not only the football team but get a Florida HS Athlete who's love is basketball and when the pansies run off and someone like Will gets injured, you have a surefire physical presence under the boards that can move.

You have to be kidding... Young's only offer is DII Eckerd, which has a terrible athletic program.
Young can't play basketball at UF and comparing him to D. Hill is a joke.
And Reggie Johnson at UM is a lot taller than Young.

If Brissett couldn't play hoops and football, then this kid won't either. Brissett was a big-time basketball player.

The decision is between hoops at Eckerd and Football at UF. I don't think playing both is an option.

I think everyone wants him to be a Gator. It just won't be as a basketball player.

Billy could use this big guy right now. I don't know if Billy would let him even on the practice floor, but if he can't get enough bigs to compete for a full season, what would be wrong with this. Next year we have Harris, who is injured now, we have Will Y. with knee problems, Chris W., Finney-Smith, who knows whether Patrick is coming back. I would rather see Trevon knock some people around and feed the shooters, than have Devon Walker get knock around and his shots blocked inside. Prather being injured can't provide enough minutes yet. Let's call him emergency relief.
As for knocking this kid, I would like to see any of ya'll that knock him, lets get you on a court with him and see if you could get a rebound . Then do your talking.

Hell, if the kid can contribute 5-7 minutes they why not give him a look? Does it take up a basketball scholly? I don't think so but I'm not sure if they changed those rules or not.

I don't believe so, although likewise I don't know if the rule has changed. It at least used to be that with a multiple sport athlete, if they are on an athletic scholarship and one of the sports is football they have to be counted as a football scholarship (one of the Bear Bryant rules to keep from filling all of the other teams up with guys you didn't have football scholarships available for).

I don't think Billy is going to give up a scholly on a maybe football player with the basketball offer list the kid had.

As long as football is footing the scholarship bill and it counts against football numbers he can play any other sport. Same reason Demps and Rainey could run track, Andrades can play baseball etc. What you can't do is eat up a non revenue scholly for a kid to play a revenue sport, so for instance if Champ ran out of football schollies he couldn't get a kid put on a track scholly to get around 85.
Having said that, I would be really surprised if he could contribute with the talent level and depth we will have next year in basketball, if ever.

We will start out with more depth, but who knows halfway through the SEC season. Think emergency relief. Again who knows what Patrick is going to do.

if trevon can be that 'physical presence' on the boards - a space eater under the basket - i'm all for it. might need someone to pound the other teams' bigs here and there for a few minutes a game. box out the bigs for rebounding and someone that won't give up the easy bucket underneath. i like someone filling that role. and if it doesn't take up a basketball schollie, so much the better!

This kid is a project on the football field and will need to give that sport his full attention to ever be a contributor at UF. Young has been given a great opportunity and hopefully he takes advantage.
This kid is not anywhere near a DI basketball prospect and will never step on the court for UF. Jacob Kurz, the current walk-on is just as tall and twice the basketball player Young is, and how much playing time does he get?

rumor has it that Young has never spent time in the weight room.
By the time next season's basketball season begins, he will weigh 280 depending on which football position he will ultimately play.
The guy is a project, but football is his future.

Truth be told, let's hope Billy finds enough bigs next year so his short bench will work when someone turns an ankle, or we could be here again. The only thing that is sad is if you know this happens and you continue to do it over again.
