I think the consensus is in. Without a change to the title of this thread it scores an epic fail grade...unless your Steve Addazio, then it grades out as a Champion.

This post graded out as champion.
And I'm not Steve Addazio.

It's almost as if Muschamp himself was reading this thread. Here's a quote from him:
“People talk about closing – what’s the difference between closing in March and closing on Signing Day,’’ Muschamp said. “Does it lessen the player’s value because you got him early? I think we’re all pretty happy we got [defensive back] Vernon Hargreaves. We all think he is pretty good, whether or not we got him on Signing Day really doesn’t matter. Here is a young man who could have gone anywhere in the country and he took one visit. He came to the University of Florida.
“I use Vernon as an example, not to single him out. I don’t buy into this idea of closing maybe as much other people do. You go out and you do your due diligence. It’s about building relationships and building trust. Maybe some of our guys weren’t into the glitz and glamour of signing day. We want blue-collar guys who are going to come in here with the right kind of character and integrity and do it the right way.”

Ronald Powell was #1 player and committed in January. There were no signing day diva shenanigans with him. He is a stand up guy.

I'll take a #2 class in the nation like we have with no signing day fun rather than have lots of signing day fun and end up #5 like Ole Miss did.
maybe it's just me, but I like coming out ahead over all.

This is strictly a living in the past thread.
The old days where you could wait until the last day to announce your big time recruits are long over.
The early enrollee era has ended that strategy.

I'd rather have the entire #1 class wrapped up in June so we had no excitement on signing day. We're in the top three behind Bama ...so what! WM is to be congratulated!

I agree. Coach Muschamp did a great in getting this recruiting class.
And also, unless you liked the almost continuous coverage by ESPNU for Alabama, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Notre Dame and a lot for FSU, then it was not too exciting. ESPNU sure gave those schools a lot of free commercial time. So if you're a kid in the 9th and 10th grade etc and play football, thinking about where you might want to go some day, it sure would leave a big impression on you. Those are the schools the count. The rest don't.

I asked Ray to change the thread title. Hopefully, this will result in less confusion.

According to Scout, we have the 8th best recruiting class. That one's a mystery.

Damn, Bama wins another MNC. Only this one doesn't amount to a hill of beans compared to the other kind. We did exactly what we needed to, let's stop comparing johnsons and focus on what matters.

They were in class, boss. And HS kids don't follow ESPNU on signing day. They follow results on the field. Even that's trumped by relationships with coaches, depth chart, and schemes.

um... dvr. And what makes you think that HS kids don't follow espnu...lmao.
You think football player HS kids arent talking about who did what?
Media coverage may not be the reason a kid goes somewhere . . . but if you don't think they are paying attention to what programs are in the news you are a bit behind the times. . . boss.
And IMO Florida was one of the big names yesterday.

First there is the disappointment of finding out that Santa Clause isn't real, then all of a sudden I find that signing day isn't real! My life is empty. I'm disappointed in my new Porche now. Oh, the humanity!

You think any bluechip recruits dvr'd ESPNU and came home and watched it? Do you know any 18-20 year old kids who signed LOI's yesterday? I do. They don't watch any of that stuff. 30-40 year old men do.
