Nahh, he can only play 3 seasons, but he could redshirt a year, which would make his 4th year.. if he stayed that long.
There's 0% chance he redshirts... BUT if he has a serious injury, he could, in theory, redshirt 1 year and play the next.

Sure. I was under the assumption he had three to play three, not realizing he had gone to prep school and only spent one year at JUCO.

If he excels, only expect him to be here for two though. What I like about Reed is exactly what another poster said in another thread... Reed will help us immediately compete with Bama now. Bama will be breaking in some young kids this year at some vital positions, so I'd say we're extremely close to being even with them now.
Muschamp just needs to keep reloading that LOS every year and keep it deep on both sides every season now.

Maybe we are getting closer on the line play with Bama but they definitely have a top notch wideout or playmaker in Cooper that we are sorely lacking right now.

We'll have that in Robinson IMO, and I still don't think we should count out Pittman either.

Florida had a better Dline than Bama last year, will have a better Dline this year and had a better DLine recruiting class.

I don't know. Johnathan Allen and Dee Liner look pretty good, and if that guy that transferred high schools to pass actually qualifies I would say their D line recruiting class is better than ours

I give them the edge at DE but us the edge at DT, especially if A'Shawn Robinson moves to OL as some are suggesting. Overall they've got a bit more star power, but we've got greater numbers. I like how we measure up to them right now.
I just rewatched the highlights of Ivie and Bostwick, and I really believe both of them are explosive enough to play DE, despite coming in at 270 and 290, respectively. So if you consider Sherit, Ivie and Bostwick as DEs, and Brantley, Riles, Cummings and Reed as DTs, that's an incredibly deep and balanced haul at D-line.

Getting two JUCOs and two true freshmen at DT is brilliant if you ask me.

Or, you could throw the comparisons out the window, and evaluate the situation for each team. Reed and Cummings were exactly what we needed, due to the losses of Hunter and Floyd, and the lack of numbers at tackle. Sherit is more of a "Bandit" type of end, so I'll be interested to see how they utilize his talent. He'll either bulk up to play end in Muschamp's defense, or he'll be flipped over to the Buck position.
The other four fit in nicely with our scheme and what we do. We could, however, use a true nose tackle.
'Bama got a phenomenal group of high school defensive linemen. Probably better on paper than ours, but that's hardly a big deal. We addressed our needs. We also signed players who'll come in and play immediately.

John Allen is special and probably the best of the bunch. I do not expect Page to get the needed test score but maybe Bama can have somebody take the ACT for him. If he does get the score needed he is an elite run stopper. I think they are going to move Robinson to tackle but if he stays on D I have heard a lot of things about his attitude so it will be interesting. Dee liner is a good player but just overrated by some services.
So lets say one of Page/Robinson plays on D then they have Allen, Liner, Tim Williams that's 4 guys. Florida has Brantley, Bostwick, Cummings, Ivey Riles, Sherit Reed. On just numbers alone Florida takes the W. Brantley Bostwick & Reed are just as talented if not more than any of the players Bama got. Bama wanted those 3 kids. I think I am going to make a thread on what I like about our Dline class it is special.

I'm sorry. I did not mean better. I meant as good as ours. The issue that I see is we didn't address all of our needs due to our lack of a pass rusher whereas Bama really needed a pass rusher as well and got an elite one. We did need bodies, and we got that, so our depth and our talent is solid. We are still missing that elite pass rusher, so despite getting more total numbers than Bama, we didn't meet all of our needs, whereas Bama did meat all of their needs, including getting an elite pass rusher, and a couple of big bodies that can stop the run.

I am talking about missing the elite pass rusher in the class, and the coaches thought the elite pass rusher in this class was important as well. I don't have much faith that RoPo will be back to 100% next year, and although he is at the buck position, Cox, Jr didn't have the speed in high school to be an elite pass rusher. He may be able to play the position, but we won't be getting many sacks out of him. He'll be more a Lerentee type of buck. I'm hoping McCalister can fill the elite pass rusher void, as I think Fowler will be more of a SSDE type of end then a off the edge rusher. I am just going by what I saw last year on Fowler. I'm not saying that they aren't solid to even great players. Just saying they aren't elite pass rushers currently.

Every team in the country thinks they need an elite pass rusher in thier class. But there were only 3-5 in the whole country.
Ropo McCalister and and Fowler will do fine at BUCK. They all need different things Ropo needs health McCalister needs to add weight and Fowler needs to lose some.
Fowler and Ropo were 5 star WDE out of high school it doesn't get much better than that.
