First strike, and if he gets another one, boot him IMO.
I like that Muschamp has cleaned out the locker room of trouble-makers and trust him to make the right decision about this.

I think this will get tossed. Baggie was not even near him; very weak constructive possession case. No admission of ownership by Purifoy. No residue on him. Was not taken into custody; was issued Notice to Appear. It is a weak case, doubt it is even filed on. When I was a prosecutor I would not have filed on a garbage case like this.

+1
I swear, it's almost a prerequisite to lack any semblance of intelligence when working for either the GPD or the Alachua County prosecutor's office.

Can we fire the entire GPD and start over? If this happened in Tuscaloosa this cop would already be packing sand.

Crazy talk? Because you say it is? lol
Have you forgotten the 2010 and 2011 seasons already? This non-discipline attitude was one of the main reasons for those struggles those seasons. I don;t care how good a player is, they should all be held accountable IMO.
If all this is true, then Louchez gets this oen chance to redeem himself, and if he does this agin, BOOM!, he's gone.

Agree on cleaning trouble makers out of the locker room.
There is legitimate question as to whether the pot was Purifoy's though. Pot was located between driver and passenger seat while Purifoy was sitting in the back seat. There doesn't appear to be any evidence linking him to the pot.
I don't see how GPD has a case here - will almost certainly be no charges pressed based on the weak state of evidence in the police report.
No doubt Louchez needs to choose his friends more wisely, if he's hanging around guys dumb enough to drive around hogtown with bags of weed in plain view.

No, he's not. This isn't even worthy of a first strike, he shouldn't have even been cited.
He does need to reconsider traveling in a car with weed, though.

You don't know how this works, do you?
On a different note, Purifoy has picked the wrong time to put himself in a position like this. There's too much talent coming in to tolerate any shenanigans, which is just how it should be.

True on both counts.
IMO, the officer should be suspended without pay for a month or so, for abuse of authority and wasting tax payer money. Ridiculous arrest.
If he has done it before, he should be fired.

Did anyone hear why there was a "routine" traffic stop?

Funny that the "troublemakers" didn't hurt us in 2006 or 2008.

Official report indicated "violation of right of way"... could describe something like making a right hand turn from a stop sign into traffic and not allowing enough room for the traffic already coming in that lane.
Can be a very subjective way to pull over anybody you want to pull over.
Likelihood it was a typical DWB stop and fishing expedition? I'd say pretty damned high.

Thanks Oaktown. Tend to agree with your call on why the car was pulled over.

Purifoy was given a notice to appear, which under Florida law is equivalent to an arrest, and has a Feb. 21 court date in Alachua County.
|
So he got one of those stupid written arrests that the GPD loved to hand out to underage drinkers while I was at school. Probably 50% of the people I knew got one of these "notices to appear". And none of them got suspended from school, expelled, etc. In fact, I dont think the school was even notified. Nothing to see here.

why did the moron throw the joint out of the car? Any good pot head knows it's time to eat when the fuzz is closing in. Not to mention, everyone needed to start eating the 2.5 grams when the car was getting pulled over. That isn't very much.
And who are we kidding here, let's not pretend Purifoy was innocent in this matter. I have a feeling he would not be passing a pee test right now.

Would be interesting to see if Officer Hardman has been the arresting officer of any other Gator players.
