Prather's playing time
I'm assuming Casey is still getting back into game shape. That being said, i don't know how much i want Frazier's minutes diminished. Clearly he has played more during Prather's rehab. Aside from taking a really poor 3 on one possession, Frasier is really, really blossoming - both as an offensive threat and as a rebounder and he is not a defensive liability.
I'm interested to see how the minute distribution works for us over the next five games regarding those two. Frasier is just such a weapon behind the arc.

We will need a strong 8 man rotation for the tournament.

Yeguete's minutes were way down last night, perhaps because Rosario was having a good game plus we needed more scoring potential against Ole Miss.

Prather looked just a tad slower and a tad rusty last night, coming off his injury. His productivity will creep back up. We need him, and last night showed why. Ole Miss had good size, and he came in and guarded bigger guys when Pat or Murph had to sit.

Usually Prather comes in to spell one of the front court players. I haven't seen him play too much of the three. Frazier has rotated in with the three guards.

No doubt about it. Still, his minutes have increased since Prather has been out.
Or am I just imagining this?????

You are correct. Last night, Frazier played 23 minutes, and played 24 minutes in each of the two preceding games. He has averaged just 18.4 minutes over the season, so he is clearly absorbing some of Prather's lost minutes.

Prather is a beast, and when he was healthy he was playing great. I fully expect his minutes to increase once he gets his legs back into game shape.

I am quite happy to have Prather back and I want him to play back into game shape. He is the all important 4th big even if he is undersized. Prather and Frazier give UF lots of flexibility.
This team has much more flexibility than the 2005-06 and 2006-07 teams. This team can match up against a 3 guard offense as they did last night with no problem. This team can match up with Prather against a team with a true 3 who is 6'7"+ who might give UF's guards trouble. This team can go big or go small and be pretty much equally effective.

We are a complete team but can always use more athleticism in the paint. Prather feels like he could improve by tourney time. I would like to see Murphy meaner but his range makes up for it.

Do you think Frazier's additional minutes is a result of playing less of the Young - Murphy - Yeguete + 2 guards lineup the last few games? Maybe Yeguete's knee tendinitis is keeping us from using this lineup as he normally lined up against a guard on defense. Regardless I'm glad Frazier is getting more time, he's playing great.
I'm glad were getting healthy, this team is fun to watch on both ends of the floor.

I do suspect the effects of Yeguete's tendonitis are wearing on him and Billy is probably trying to use him carefully so we'll still have him come tournament time.

I think Donovan was using multiple combinations to spread the minutes over seven guys rather than eight.

there are games where foul trouble, illness or just being off will come into play. Nice to have the flexibility of having an 8th option for 10-20 minutes

Prather is an X-factor with this team
Very few teams can match him athletically
We need him back to full strength, he is an important piece of the puzzle

Frasier is a great guy to have on the floor when the other team is playing zone. This is where Yeguette is the least effective. If he's in and Patric is out, Murph has to play underneath more. If he's in and Murph is out, we lose the stretch 4 that is so valuable vs the zone. I absolutely love that we have the personnel to counter just about anything teams throw at us.

Hmmm - as an "Always" Prather/Wilbekin/Yeguete advocate since their first games, I think it is very important to the team to have all three of them available.
Hopefully, Prather will work back into 100% condition soon and avoid further injuries.
Frazier simply appears to be a step above the other three frosh. They are more in the development zone, as, for example, were Noah, Speights, Prather and Yeguete during their first years.
Ahhhh for the good ole days when the NCAA didn't allow true frosh to play their first year. Admittedly, scholarship numbers were greater back then.

They don't need to be in the rotation to develop.

I disagree, you have to have the lights on, people in the seats screaming and the other team scrapping at you to make you look silly, then you are exposed and you work even harder to get back. That's how players feel.
Practice is clearly needed to develop, but if you don't take tests "play in real games" you don't get it to what you need to improve on. Just hearing coaches yell at you and talk to you only goes so far. Everyone who gives the time to practice and give blood sweat and tears, deserves a chance in front of the fans, if not transfers like Kadji, get to thinking, I will never develop. Kadji played but seemed to be in Billy's doghouse. I always wondered why he didn't play more, the short bench Billy uses, doesn't always give backups a warm fuzzy feeling. I thought Patrick was more developed physically but Kadji had a better game overall, could shoot, dribble, but rebounding since he was less physically mature, wasn't at the time a strength, and because of this, he rode too many minutes on the bench. At 6' 11' inches, we could have used him to get to the final four last year. But, since Billy played his tough love, we lost someone who was talented and just needed some playing time. I am sure people in the program have their opinions as to why, but the end result was not playing enough, I am headed to where I can develop my game in real game situations. The reason for most transfers.
