Default 3 legged dog update

Kind of hoping bakaduin sees this. Anyway 5 weeks after knee surgery and still no change, Demi dog still refuses to use her right rear leg. The wife took her to the vet last Friday and the vet was surprised, he said the leg seemed normal, he felt no swelling and a good range of motion in the leg. Demi showed no signs of pain. The vet said to give her 2 more weeks and if there was still no improvement he would take more x-rays.

A week has passed and still no change however, I believe I may have found the problem last night. I put Demi Dog on the bed last night and was playing with her when I noticed she was walking on the bad leg although it was more of a limp than a walk. When I put her back down on the floor she once again became a 3 legged dog. At this point let me explain, we have ceramic tile in all rooms except the bedrooms which have hardwood flooring.

This morning I decided to try a little experiment, I took Demi outside for a walk, something we haven’t done since the surgery. While on the driveway and sidewalk she ran along on 3 legs never once putting her foot down but when I walked her into the grass she started using the bad leg, not full time but she would walk along on 4 legs a while then switch to 3 then back to 4 again. I’m beginning to think it is a foot problem rather than the knee that is bothering her.

So tonight I put her back on the bed and got her to roll over on her back. I started playing with her feet and she would let me squeeze the other 3 feet but the minute I put a little pressure on the right hind foot she pulled it away from me and ran to the far corner of the bed.
So bakaduin, do you have any ideas? I think Mrs51 is going to take her into the vet Monday and ask him to look at her foot.

Foot issues are definitely common. After surgery like this dogs usually walk on the leg pretty quickly. I would definitely have them radiograph the foot (which I'm sure they would do anyway).
