Official Final: Florida -78 vs Ole Miss - 64, Saturday, 7:00 PM, ESPNU
A game that was highly anticipated a little earlier in the week has lost a bit of its luster after the Kentucky Wildcats went into the Rebel's back yard and handed them their first league loss of the season. Couple that with the loss of two players to injuries and the Rebels have to feel like they were hit with a one-two punch this week. Still, they come into the O-Dome with the league's leading scorer in Marshall Henderson and a front court that includes two senior forwards, Reginald Buckner and Murphy Hollaway, that have put up solid numbers on their own. In addition I'm sure the coaches haven't overlooked the game 6' 6" sophomore guard Ladarius White had against Kentucky when he accounted for 22 of Ole Miss' 74 total points.
Ole Miss will be looking to right their ship and no better way to do it than to upset the Gators in the O-Dome. Florida is going to have to play Henderson and White close while trying to force Henderson into some of the ill-advised shots he has been known to take. It should also be a battle on the boards and having a healthy contingent of Gators is going to be a big plus come tomorrow. I look for the guys to do what they have been very proficient at this season, and that is frustrate the Rebels by limiting their shot opportunities and staying in their grills all night long. All-in-all I'll be surprised if this is not another double digit win for Florida when the game is over.
Go Gators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree, I like that Billy said we still had plenty of things to work on. There is not reason to think we cannot keep on improving.

you know the guys will be amped for this game - to shut down henderson for one big reason. do that, and keep adding to the gator defense 'legend' that is growing and growing, now around the nation (but certainly amongst the 'gator nation') with each game!
issue might be to focus too much on henderson. can't really do that w/ buckner in the post and white able to penetrate and do damage on his own. so still need that balanced gator d for this game. our guards are special on the perimeter w/ their defensive skills so they should neutralize or limit henderson a great deal on their own.
fans are amped too! will be attending this one live - hoping for another "missouri-like" game!

We need to figure out an award for the funniest Rowdy Reptile chant directed at Marshall.
Hopefully, they will coordinate to something really clever, like going quiet whenever Henderson touches the ball, or chanting "drama queen".
Or even serenading him with a little Eric Clapton:
You get high...
You get high...
You get high...
Cocaine!
Think we could get the pep band in on that one.

I just noticed that UMs is almost a perfect match in the Ken Pomeroy numbers to KSU.
Adjusted offense: KSU 108.8 (40th), UMs 108.5 (43rd)
Adjusted defense: KSU 90.5 (42nd), UMs 90.2 (40th)
UF's numbers are adjusted offense 123.6 (2nd) and adjusted defense 79.7 (1st). So UF's numbers are a good bit better, but UF did manage to lose to KSU.

UMs likely lineup is three guards and two post players:
G: Henderson 6'2" 175 lbs JR, 19.3 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.6 APG, 34.9% from the arc
G: Summers 6'3" 184 lbs Soph, 8.9 PPG, 1.9 RPG, 3.9 APG, 33.3% from the arc
G: White 6'6" 212 lbs Soph, 5.5 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 0.9 APG, 38.9% from the arc
P: Holloway 6'7" 240 lbs SR, 14.6 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 1.4 APG, 51% from the FT line
P: Buckner 6'9" 235 lbs SR, 9.7 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 0.7 APG, hasn't taken a 3
They play fast and don't turn it over much ordinarily. A part time starting guard and their primary big off the bench are out really cutting into their depth.

Why is our game between two top 25 teams on ESPNU while an unranked Kentucky plays a terrible Texas A&M team on ESPN just an hour earlier?

I read today that Henderson is a pure gunner who has attempted at least 10 3-pointers in his last 5 games. He is known to be a show boat by agitating a hostile crowd. After the win at Auburn last Saturday,(63-61) Henderson ran over to Auburn's student section and popped his jersey out at the crowd. Imagine him doing that to the Rowdy Reptiles.
We cannot give him any opportunity to get in rhythm. We shut him down, we win.

I'm sure the schedule and network were set in preseason before anyone knew how good Ole Miss was. That's totally stupid, but that's the way it's done.
