If the Moss guys would take the time to read the article a poster put up a few posts back....then you would get the players opinion. Guys that played against both.

Moss has more athletic potential than perhaps anyone who has ever played wide receiver. But if I'm building a team from scratch, I'd take Rice (and several others) over Moss in a heartbeat. Rice is just a more complete football player. Hands down, no contest.

Thing that always struck me about Emmitt (like Payton) is that he ALWAYS GAINED POSITIVE YARDAGE. Always.

Good news is....Its the longest running thread in two years not to be aimed at any of our former coaches.

So we all agree then:
(1) Moss
(2) Owens

If Moss had just said greatest deep threat ever, there wouldn't be all this debate. He is that.
He's just not the great receiver.... which requires a helluva lot more than being a deep threat.

Agreed. I thought the article with the formers players was very illuminative on the topic. Most seemed to have respect for Moss but as a one trick pony.

Yepper I sure do. I nailed your buddy Moss to the floor based on the other poster's statement. IF indeed your idol Moss was really the greatest, he wouldn't feel the need to brag about it and make his claim. His actions would be more than sufficient--exactly what the REAL greatest WR did. Let his body of work on the field speak his case. Quietly and adequately enough for the entire world to know who is the best.
Moss has lots of talent, but no drive-no work ethic-no concept of what a "team" means--and not nearly the measure of greatness Rice has. Oh yeah, not to mention the consensus of pretty much everyone else on this planet.
So yes--I see and know precisely what I did. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't agree. Emmitt was a great running back, but there are others who could've done what he did behind arguably the greatest line ever. I'm not convinced that he comes close to that record without Newton, Allen, Smith, etc...blocking for him. If you put Sanders in Dallas, and Smith in Detroit, this wouldn't even be a debate. It wouldn't even be talked about on message boards.
Smith played on one of the most complete offenses to ever be fielded in pro football. Sanders played with Lomas Brown....and a collection of nobodies.

Deion may have called himself the greatest but again, like randy moss, that doesn't make it true. Best cover corner sure but he couldn't or wouldn't hit so his self proclaimed title , like Randy's, is just his own
